Kirby and the Rainbow Curse’s debut sales in the U.S. are in. Last month, the game sold 52,000 copies, according to reliable NPD leaker “creamsugar”. It should be noted that because Kirby and the Rainbow Curse launched towards the end of February, that figure only accounts for about a week of sales.

The only other piece of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse sales data comes from Japan. First week sales for the game (as revealed by Media Create a few weeks ago) came in at 32,000 units. Total units sold should be at around 60,000 units at this point.

Nintendo has followed up on this month’s NPD report with a bunch of sales figures.

In terms of what we haven’t already reported, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate managed to sell 290,000 copies in its first month. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U sales have now surpassed 1.5 million, while amiibo figures are up to 3.5 million.

Nintendo has shared a notable stat from this month’s NPD report. According to the company, all versions of the 3DS sold a combined 395,000 units in the U.S. last month.

A Nintendo spokesperson told GamesBeat, “The great majority of these sales were New Nintendo 3DS XL systems, which sold 130 percent more units in its initial frame than Nintendo 3DS XL did when it launched on Aug. 19, 2012.”

Gaming hardware sales for the industry were up $378.2 million for a 10 percent bump year-over-year. The launch of the New 3DS XL provided a large contribution to that figure.

Regarding Wii U, Nintendo says that “hardware sales have increased by more than 20 percent” thus far in 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.

Toki Tori 2 was considered to be a good game by those who played it, but unfortunately, that didn’t translate into strong sales. The game’s poor performance ultimately bankrupted one half of the company.

At GDC 2015 last week, Two Tribes co-founder Collin van Ginkel spoke with Eurogamer about what went wrong with Toki Tori 2:

“I don’t think I would have bought Toki Tor 2 if I was a consumer. That doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s a good game. I think we did a really great job. But it’s not something I would have bought myself.”

Van Ginkel added that Two Tribes originally intended to work on Toki Tori 2 on 6-9 months, but ended up developing the title for two years.
