Zelda: Breath of the Wild – “Hyrule: Then and Now” official translation
Posted on 8 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in News, Switch, Wii U | 0 comments
A couple of days ago, Nintendo compared The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to the original NES Legend of Zelda on their Japanese website, offering up a few comparisons in the way Hyrule looks in both games; we translated that article here. Today, Nintendo of Europe released essentially the same article in English. It doesn’t really offer any new insights – even the screenshots are still from the Japanese version. Still, if you wanna take a look at it, you can find the article here.
Nintendo compares the original Zelda to Breath of the Wild

Nintendo is going back to Zelda’s roots with Breath of the Wild. Today, the company issued a new post on its Japanese website to show how its new Switch / Wii U game compares in some aspects to the original.
Nintendo prepared four different comparisons. They’re as follows:
– Old man: found right away in the original game and in Breath of the Wild; gives you a sword in the original Zelda, but nothing in Breath of the Wild; in Breath of the Wild you have to manage weapons yourself such as by stealing them from enemies
– Spectacle Rock: two rocks form the shape of glasses in both games, but it now looks more like a mountain than just a rock in Breath of the Wild
– Raft: used to navigate water in the original Zelda, also in Breath of the Wild by using the Korok Leaf; it’s an important tool in very cold rivers that you can’t swim in
– Skull shape: shape of a skull appears in Zelda’s final dungeon and in a certain enemy hideout in Breath of the Wild; in Breath of the Wild, you can even use the skull shape to your advantage by having the lantern inside one of the skull eyes to fall, cause an explosion, and instantly wipe out the enemies inside
Here are the four comparison shots:

A new episode of Japanese show Game Center DX shows off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s a rather lengthy look too, clocking at 40 minutes (although not all of that time is gameplay). The show’s members even chat with Eiji Aonuma near the end. Note that the footage is still the Wii U version, though. Check it out below:

Update 2: Added a weather video after the break.
Update: Added YouTube links for both videos below.
Original: Ahead of the NX reveal later today where the game might be making an appearance, Nintendo has slightly updated the Japanese website for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
While no new information has technically been added, the website now plays two new videos, titled “In this World” and “In This Era”. Both mostly show footage from the plateau we’ve seen plenty of at E3, but it’s nonetheless nice to see the game in motion.

Lots of Zelda talk, Breath of the Wild, original planning documents at 30th anniversary concert in Japan
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Switch, Wii U | 14 Comments
This past weekend, Nintendo hosted a special 30th anniversary Zelda concert in Kyoto, Japan. It was a big event as key staff involved with the series were present – Shigeru Miyamoto, Eiji Aonuma, Takashi Tezuka, and Koji Kondo. Famitsu shared an in-depth report of what occurred and what was said.
Voice actress Ruriko Aoki hosted the concert. She was actually planning on buying a ticket for the event in Nagoya, and even asked her agency to free up her schedule. However, she was eventually told that she got the job for this concert. Series producer Eiji Aonuma also appeared and introduced Aoki. The two showed up together during a Niconico Majora’s Mask 3D live stream last year, and since she’s a big fan of Zelda, he asked her to be the MC.
Nintendo artists on making images for Zelda: Breath of the Wild, bow importance

We’ll be seeing The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts in English next February. However, in Japan, it came out last month as Hyrule Graphics.
Much of the book features various images from the Zelda games, ranging from character concept art to official illustrations. Towards the end though, there’s an interview with several Nintendo artists who have worked on the games – starting with the original up through Breath of the Wild.
The Breath of the Wild segment isn’t too long, but we went ahead and translated it since the section was interesting enough. It reveals Takumi Wada, who last contributed to Skyward Sword, as the person leading the way on drawing artwork, and Satoru Takizawa as the art director. There’s some talk about how important the bow is as well, with producer Eiji Aonuma stressing this early on in development. We also get a bit of a look at some variations that were drawn of the art where Link is shooting an arrow.
Head past the break for our full translation.

Nintendo of France website lists Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo for March 4
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch, Wii U | 9 Comments
Numerous users have reported that Nintendo of France’s website is listing the upcoming amiibo based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for March 4.
In a way, this is part-news, and part-rumor. There’s no question about the validity of the finding, but whether it can actually be trusted remains to be seen. March 4 would be a Saturday, but most Nintendo releases these days tend to take place on Fridays.
Some are also speculating about the possibility of NX and Zelda: Breath of the Wild itself launching on March 4. It might be too soon to believe that, especially when you again consider that March 4 falls on a Saturday. This is an interesting discovery, but one that might not pan out to be anything. Perhaps it’s just a placeholder – only time will tell.
