The Legend of Zelda

Back in August, Nintendo put up the first part of the Zelda comic “Link’s Hijinks”. The second portion has since been added to the Play Nintendo website. You can read it in full below.

The King of Hyrule is headed to Hyrule Warriors Legends, the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors, and with that comes an awesome character trailer showing off what he’ll look like in battle! Check out the trailer below:

Capcom just revealed via their YouTube channel brand new Monster Hunter X trailers and collaborations, preparing for the release of the game in Japan on November 28th.

The first of many trailers uploaded by Capcom shows the opening cinematic for Monster Hunter X, and it’s gorgeous:

Next up is the main trailer showing off Monster Hunter X’s gameplay:

Yet another Legend of Zelda collaboration will be making its way over to Monster Hunter X with the Felyne’s getting a Wind Waker makeover. It’s a little creepy, but also hilarious seeing Link channel his inner feline:

In addition to the Legend of Zelda collaboration, Macross Delta will also be making its way to Monster Hunter X and give the Felynes an awesome mech-like makeover:

One fan is building on the success of Super Mario Maker with a similar project for PC. The Legend of Zelda Maker, which is currently in alpha, can be downloaded from Dropbox here or Mediafire here.

Creator Dream Mix wrote in the game’s YouTube description:

“Zelda Maker (Temp) is a non-official project started by myself, which will allow players to create and share Legend of Zelda worlds of their own. Nintendo will cease and desist a project like this, so in time, when I’ve got the ability to change the sprites, I will do so, and I will also add things that Zelda games don’t have to make it a somewhat unique experience. Regardless, I won’t be acting like this isn’t going to be a Zelda (Maker?) clone, through and through. I’d just like to add some things that I think official Zelda games could use. This is a very early build of the game, and it does not represent what the final game will look like.”

You know how these sorts of things tend to go. Fan projects like these don’t usually sit well with Nintendo, so the Big N might be looking to pull the plug on this pretty soon.

This week, Famitsu has another feature on The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. Along with a general article about the game, there’s also a small interview with some of the game’s developers, including series producer Eiji Aonuma. Although most of the discussion naturally focused on Tri Force Heroes, Famitsu did ask a couple of other questions about the franchise.

Next year will be the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. When Famitsu mentioned this, Aonuma told the magazine:

“This year we wanted a Majora’s Mask concert, so it is not impossible that there may be a 30th anniversary concert next year. However, as we are trying to complete the new Zelda as fast as possible, that is all that is on our minds. That being said, we hope something will take form for the 30th anniversary. It is especially important to a producer of the series, so I hope to give something everyone can look forward to next year.”

The Legend of Zelda Wii U

In one of its issues earlier this month, Dengeki PlayStation spoke with a ton of recognized game creators ranging from Keiji Inafune to Tetsuya Nomura. This feature was published to celebrate the magazine’s 600th issue.

One of the developers Dengeki PlayStation reached out to was Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata. To start out with, Tabata was asked which company’s title he would like to work on as a member of their staff. Here’s how he responded:

“The Legend of Zelda series. I’m not quite sure why myself, but a Zelda game made with the technology and know-how of Final Fantasy XV is the game I wish to create as of this moment.”

Of course, you shouldn’t make too much of Tabata’s words – it was just a harmless comment after all! Still, it’s an interesting choice on his part. It almost makes you wonder what a Square Enix-made Zelda game would look like.

The third installment of The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, going by the “Master Quest” name, will add brand-new music and visuals from Tri Force Heroes. Who would play Link in a live action movie based on The Legend of Zelda? What about the casting for a new Super Mario Bros. film? Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka were asked about these questions in an interview with MTV.

As for feature length films in general, Miyamoto once again expressed openness to the idea. After discussing the Pikmin short movies that can be seen on both Wii U and 3DS, he said: “A feature length film? It’s definitely a secret! I can’t make any comments right now but we’ll see.”

Check out the full interview with Miyamoto and Tezuka below.

Nintendo has published an original Zelda comic on the official Play Nintendo website. It’s based on an original comic by Seitaro Komatsu, which was featured in the Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comics Special.

Part one of the comic is posted below. I’m sure we’ll be seeing part two soon as well!

We’ve been seeing all sorts of tributes and honors going out for Satoru Iwata over the past week. The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses Master Quest concert also paid tribute with a moment of silence yesterday. YouTube user “GrahamdyAker” recorded it, which you can watch below.
