[Let’s Talk] The Game Awards 2020 reaction

The Game Awards 2020 is officially in the books. This year’s show aired on Thursday, featuring the latest game reveals, announcements, and of course, actual awards.
Each year we’re always curious what Nintendo will bring to the table as you can never really guess. This time around, the Big N only really had one announcement: that being Sephiroth coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Capcom actually had quite a bit of Switch news to share between Ghosts ‘N Goblins Resurrected, Capcom Arcade Stadium, and Monster Hunter Rise (which got a new trailer and upcoming demo). There were a few other Switch announcements with Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut, Shady Part of Me, Endless Dungeon, and Evil Dead: The Game.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps dev talks “intense effort” of Switch port, initially ran at 24 FPS

Ori and the Will of the Wisps, just like the original game in the series, is out now on Switch. Moon Studios surprised fans by announcing and releasing the port as part of a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase earlier this year.
In an interview with Nintendo Everything, Moon Studios co-founder Gennadiy Korol spoke more about the experience of bringing Ori and the Will of the Wisps to Switch. Initially, the team was initially unsure if 60 frames per second would be technically possible without a big quality loss. You might be surprised to hear that “even with heavily compromised visuals”, the port was at just 24 FPS in the beginning.

If you’ve been hoping to easily watch anime on Switch, it looks like that will soon be possible. Funimation put out a brief video on social media teasing that it will soon be releasing a dedicated app on Nintendo’s console.

Capcom provided an update on Monster Hunter Rise at The Game Awards 2020 today. The game will be getting a limited-time demo in January 2020, the company revealed.

Capcom Arcade Stadium announced for Switch

Capcom Arcade Stadium has been revealed for Switch, which will feature 32 classic games. It’ll be out in February 2021.

Banjo & Kazooie, Terry, and Byleth amiibo releasing on March 26, 2021

Update: Nintendo has now confirmed the same March 26, 2021 date for these amiibo in North America.
Original: Nintendo has dated three more Smash Bros. amiibo for Japan. Banjo & Kazooie, Terry, and Byleth are all slated for March 26, 2021.
Nintendo previously mentioned that these figures would be arriving in Fall 2021. However, it appears that was a mistake.
A western date hasn’t been set for the new amiibo currently, but it’s likely that they’ll arrive around the same time.
Switch update out now (version 11.0.1)

Earlier today, Nintendo confirmed that a new character would be revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate during The Game Awards 2020. The company was true to its word, announcing that Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII is joining the game.
