If you plan on using GameChat on Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll need a phone number. That news has been spotted in the official terms for the feature.

Nintendo doesn’t go into detail about why a phone number is required for GameChat on Switch 2, but the reason seems fairly clear. Pikmin has been around since the GameCube days, but it hasn’t seen the same amount of popularity as some of his other creations such as Mario and Zelda. However, during the Nintendo Switch era, it’s been steadily gaining traction – especially with the launch of Pikmin 4.
