Metroid Dread development

MercurySteam CEO Enric Álvarez has discussed working with Nintendo and the development of Metroid Dread. This comes as part of an interview with Gamereactor.

The Switch title marked the second collaboration between the two sides following Metroid: Samus Returns, a remake of the Game Boy game Metroid II: Return of Samus. Álvarez said both companies “have an excellent understanding of each other”. He indicated that Nintendo is open to new ideas while MercurySteam was “hungry for leaving our own mark on the franchise.”

Sword and Fairy Inn 2 trailer

A final launch trailer has come in for Sword and Fairy Inn 2, which ties in with the Switch release. The life simulation RPG came to the console this week.

PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe gameplay

Q-Games has brought PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe to Switch following its previous Apple Arcade debut, and we’ve got some gameplay. The party-brawler hybrid landed on the console this week.

The Rewinder release date

Nearly three years after it was announced for the platformer, The Rewinder now has a release date on Switch. Publisher Gamera and developer MistyMountainStudio have confirmed its availability for August 10, 2023.

The Rewinder did come out for PC in 2021, but we’ve been waiting on the Switch version since then. There hadn’t been any updates since the initial reveal in September 2020.

Mr. Run and Jump gameplay

Bandai Namco July 2023 Switch sale Dragon Ball Z Kakarot

Bandai Namco has started up a late July 2023 Switch eShop sale with multiple games at their lowest prices yet, including .hack//G.U. Last Recode, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus, and more. Over two dozen titles are included.

Kirby Switch controller PowerA

PowerA is planning a new Switch controller design for Kirby, and you’ll be able to pick it up very soon. This is different from the other colorful design we posted about last year.

The wireless controller is similar to the company’s other offerings, but this is a pretty unique design. It includes two mappable Advanced Gaming Buttons that you can program at any time, precision tuned analog sticks, a full size d-pad, a LED indicator for player number, button mapping, and low battery warning, plus more. However, it does not support HD Rumble, the IR camera, motion controls, or amiibo NFC.

Pickleball: Smash

It’s been a busy past week or so for GameMill with the company announcing a variety of games including most recently Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and the news continues with the reveal of Pickleball: Smash. It will arrive this November on Switch.
