The Pokemon Company’s J.C. Smith has further commented on what’s in store for the series’ future. Early next year, the franchise will be celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Nintendo World Report caught up with Smith at the Pokemon World Championships last weekend. While nothing specific was revealed, he did tease that there could be some big things in store.

NWR: 20 years. February 27th, 2016. What kind of plans you got, other than Pokkén Tournament?

JS: [Laughs] Wish I could tell you but I can’t!

NWR: Are there big plans for it?

JS: There’s always big plans for it. And obviously, you’re seeing some big product stuff for it that’s been announced that’s exciting for the year and we always want to keep fans on their toes, but nothing I can reveal at this time.

RCMADIAX has been known for its work on Wii U. But in 2016, the studio plans on adding the New 3DS as one of its supported platforms.

RCMADIAX stated the following earlier today:

There is one thing to keep in mind about today’s news. RCMADIAX games on New 3DS is probably a long ways off, as we won’t be seeing anything until Q4 2016 at the earliest.

This week’s Collectible Badge Center update has gone live in Japan. Nintendo has added in badges based on Splatoon (five panels), Famicom era Kirby (four panels), and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (three panels). Users also have access to two free goes, a free Baito badge (returning badges) for every 90 yen spent, and an exclusive Happy Home Designer theme for spending 180 yen.

Pokemon Tournament’s Wii U version is launching worldwide next spring. The fighter is also on arcades in Japan, but its future in the west is unclear.

Take a look at this exchange between Nintendo World Report and The Pokemon Company’s J.C. Smith:

Nintendo World Report (NWR): So the whole Dave & Buster’s thing…

J.C. Smith (JS): Mhm.

NWR: How that’s moving towards arcades presumably next year. We’ll see how that goes. Was that organized by The Pokémon Company International also?

JS: It was not actually. In fact, I haven’t been involved in that, but I’ve been told that the arcade machine is not coming to the U.S., so I don’t know exactly what the plan is. But that was a long while ago, so who knows what may have changed. You know, you can’t stop someone from buying an arcade system so who knows what’s down the road.

NWR: So last you heard, there were no plans.

JS: Yeah, I haven’t been working closely on the arcade side at all because, really, I never worked on the arcade side but we’ll see. I think that will be handled by Bandai Namco. But I’d have to follow-up with you on that.

We had originally heard from Dave & Buster’s Kevin Bachus that Pokken Tournament would be tested in their arcades. Is that still in the cards? I don’t think anyone can say for certain at this point.

SEGA sent out another update pertaining to Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX today.

First, we have a look at the launch edition – pictured above. Pre-orders and a limited number of launch copies will feature a collectible outer box, Hatsune Miku wallet chain, and 19 double-sided AR cards.

We also have news about how StreetPass and SpotPass are supported in Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX, along with screenshots. Here’s the latest:

Hatsune Miku is full of content beyond just the rhythm game, and among the ones we think people will spend an inordinate amount of time with are the StreetPass features! Our personal favorite is being able to create your own Miku tune using a variety of instruments, including vocaloids, traditional instruments, synthesizers and chiptunes! Use the sounds and the keyboard to create a four-bar tone that you can share with anyone you StreetPass.

The best part? As you change your individual tune, the friends you’ve StreetPassed with will get an update over SpotPass!

The same goes for your profile card, which you can design by selecting a variety of backgrounds and looks, change character poses, create a tagline, write your own message, and more as options are unlocked by completing the rhythm game! Show off your Mirai DX prowess!

Nintendo has provided an update regarding the status of the amiibo stock situation over on its Facebook page.

The Splatoon 3-pack, Charizard, and Pac-Man are returning to store shelves “over the next few days”. Note that quantities will be limited.
