Nintendo has announced the first-ever Super Smash Bros. for 3DS tournament, which is set to take place at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Fans can have a shot at participating by visiting the Nintendo Gaming Lounge at the Marriott Marquis & Marina located at 333 W. Harbor Drive.
Here’s an overview as to how the tournament will work:
Starting at noon, there will be a preliminary round in which groups of four competitors battle it out, with the winner advancing. During the finals, players will duke it out one-on-one to determine the top smasher. Tournament slots are limited, and fans will be able to sign up the day of the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those who are not attending San Diego Comic-Con can watch the tournament live on Nintendo’s Twitch channel. News about additional Nintendo Gaming Lounge activities will be announced in the future.
You’ll find today’s official announcement after the break.

Shin’en’s Manfred Linzner provided a very brief update about FAST Racing Neo while speaking with Mii-Gamer in a recent interview.
Linzer acknowledged that fans “really want to see the game”, but the studio will only have one opportunity to show FAST Racing Neo for the first time and make a strong impression. He also mentioned that the team “knew there was so much more possible on Wii U than anyone showed so far”, and they’re trying to “push the hardware.”
