Big Red Button explains how the Sonic Boom games tie in with the TV show
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 0 comments
Sonic Boom is more than a game. In addition to the Wii U and 3DS titles, SEGA is also planning a TV show and even a line of toys.
Big Red Button CEO Bob Rafei recently explained to Siliconera how the games tie into the TV show. He told the site:
“The whole point of the Sonic Boom approach is to have a consistent brand and a consistent approach for the transmedia play. The transmedia play is the toy series, the games 3DS and Wii U, and the TV shows. From a character approach, from a writing approach they are the same characters living in the same universe. This world that has a backstory with the ancients and the main villain which we will introduce at E3, that is where the TV show also lives in. In terms of how they relate to each other, the villain starts to process and introduces the TV show.”
“The TV show is a situational comedy. They have a different format for the medium. They have, I think it is, 52 different eleven minute episodes where the world has to reset because when it’s played in syndication you don’t know which order they will be played in.”
“[Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric] is a classic adventure storyline which has a beginning where something is the inciting incident that sets them on their adventure and they progressively go through the world and the stakes are raised until they defeat the villain at the end. That kind of format is very difficult to tell in an eleven minute episode especially when the priorities are the humor. For us, it was gameplay, character mechanics, and then narrative. For them it was narrative as primary, the jokes as primary and secondary is action.”

Posted on 10 years ago by Jarop(@gamrah) in 3DS, News, Screenshots | 4 Comments
We’re only hours away from Nintendo’s E3 showing so this is no doubt the first of a few screenshots we’ll see from Sakurai and team this week. Today’s screenshots discuss a unique stage exclusive to the 3DS version:
New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a game where you collect tons of coins. Thus, it’s only natural that many coins will appear in this stage… Wait, is this really Super Smash Bros??
Apparently when you collect enough coins:
If you collect 100 coins, you transform into a gold fighter! For a short period of time, your attack power will increase and you won’t flinch when you receive attacks. This unique stage’s name is Golden Plains and it’s exclusive to the 3DS version.
Forbidden Magna details
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
Marvelous published a new round of Forbidden Magna details today covering four main points of the game. You can find the latest content below.
Point #1: Maid-In System
During “Inn Parts,” you can enjoy conversations and events with the spirits you’ve befriended that work at the inn as live-in maids.
Point #2: CLT System
“Battle Parts” use the ‘Connect Lead Time System,” which is a speedy action game-like turn-based battle system. The spirits are experts of battle. Each character’s attack range and movement distance varies. As such, it’s up to you to come up with the best positions so they can sweep up lots of enemies in one fell swoop!
Point #3: In-Game Animation
The story’s more important scenes are depicted via animated cutscenes, with colorful voice actors on hand to help bring the game’s charm to life.
Point #4: ETR System
Players will find a lot of options at their disposal when it comes to forging stronger bonds with spirits, including the ETR system in battles and various special events. One example of where these dynamics come into play involves Charlotte, who might be dealing with some issues. Why not talk it out, just the two of you?
