Many gaming events were either cancelled or shifted to in-person events this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. No one can predict how things will play out in 2021, but at least for now, ReedPop and Penny Arcade are looking for a return to normalcy. PAX East 2021, PAX West 2021, and PAX Unplugged 2021 are all currently planned as in-person events, assuming it’ll be safe to do so.

PAX East 2021 will be held between June 3 and June 6 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. PAX West 2021 will follow between September 3 and September 6 at the Washington State Convention Center. Finally, PAX Unplugged is planned between December 10 and December 12 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

A new Nintendo Monthly Rewind video has gone up for November 2020. Fans can catch up on some recent notable news and releases like the Animal Crossing: New Horizons winter update, this week’s Switch update, and more.

When you think of third-party games on Nintendo systems, LEGO is one of the first things that may come to mind. After all, we’ve seen numerous titles on the Big N’s systems going back to the N64. It also helps that several LEGO games tend to release each generation.

Given all of this information, it shouldn’t be too surprising to hear that LEGO is the best-selling third-party franchise on Nintendo platforms. That’s according to the NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella.

Piscatella shared a couple of other noteworthy tidbits as well. LEGO is the ninth-biggest video game franchise in history in terms of dollar sales. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, LEGO Batman, and LEGO Star Wars II are the best-selling entries.

Earlier this year, Ryan Hernandez pleaded guilty to federal crimes related to a Nintendo computer hacking scheme. Hernandez had leaked pre-release information about Switch, and despite a warning that followed, later hacked into multiple Nintendo servers and stole confidential information about games, consoles, and developer tools.

Today, Hernandez was sentenced to three years in prison “for federal crimes related to his computer hacking scheme and his possession of child pornography found on his digital devices”. He also agreed to pay $259,323 to Nintendo in damages. Once the sentence is up, Hernandez will carry out seven years of supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender.

Mario Kart Arcade GP DX

Mario Kart Arcade GP DX continues to receive new content. As part of the latest update in Japan, the game is about to receive a new mode.

The new mode is actually pretty straightforward and lets players use as many green shells as they desire. With an item box, your vehicle will be given a bumper that can block a shell once. We’ll also mention that Wario, who was previously an unlockable character, can now be used immediately.

Here’s some screenshots showcasing the new mode and Wario:
