Original (3/31): Super Mario Bros. Manga Mania isn’t Viz’s only Nintendo announcement for the day. The company has also announced The Legend of Zelda: Legendary Edition Boxset, a special package featuring all five volumes of The Legend of Zelda: Legendary Edition manga in a new hardcover format.

Here’s the official description:

This week, the Levi’s x Super Mario collection launched in North America. To celebrate, a pair of new wallpapers have been added to My Nintendo. Both designs are included in this post.

If interested, you can order both of the wallpapers here. They cost 50 Platinum Points each.

This week gave us a first look at Nintendo ormanents Hallmark is planning for 2020. While it was initially thought that we’d only be seeing 8-bit renditions of Mario, Luigi, and Donkey Kong, there are a few more products in store.

Hallmark’s 2020 DreamBook reveals even more upcoming Nintendo ornaments. For Pokemon, we’ll be seeing a Poke Ball and Pikachu. On top of that, a NES console and gold Zelda cartridge are in the works. Yoshi tops things off with a Mario Kart-inspired look.

After a brief delay, the Levi’s x Super Mario collection is now available in stateside. You can order all of the various items through the official website here.

There’s lots to go through here, including t-shirts, hoodies, and shorts. There are also tote bags, bananas, and even a hat. We recommend checking out the full set through the aforementioned store page.

We’ve grown accustomed to seeing new Nintendo ornaments from Hallmark around this time each year. The tradition continues, as we have an early look at some different designs planned for 2020.

This year seems to be all about the classics. 8-bit designs are on the way for Mario, Luigi, and Donkey Kong. Photos for each of these ornaments can be found below.

New details regarding LEGO Super Mario have continued to roll out this week. We now know that things will begin to launch on August 1, and a few different sets will be available. You can find additional information in our post yesterday here.

In other news, pre-orders have started to open on the official LEGO site. It’s revealed an additional product: the Monty Mole & Super Mushroom Expansion Set, which is free when you pre-order the LEGO Super Mario Starter Course.

After the ESA pulled the plug on E3 2020 due to the coronavirus, the show’s organizers said they were exploring an “online experience”. Now, however, it’s been confirmed that this won’t be happening.

In a new video shared today, LEGO Group’s lead designer Jonathan Bennink shows off the new LEGO Super Mario sets. Bowser and Koopa Troopa also join the adventure in two new expansion sets: Piranha Plant Power Slide, and Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle.

The LEGO Group has revealed new details on LEGO Super Mario Adventures, its take on Mario LEGO sets.

The Mario Starter Course gets things started in August. Described as an “entry point”, the product “is needed to unlock expansion sets and features seven action bricks for different interactions with the LEGO Mario figure that are only included in this set.” There will also be LEGO Super Mario Expansion Sets, “which each unlock unique challenges and characters to play with and against friends.” The Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set and the Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set will be released first.


Update (4/6): This is now up for pre-order on Amazon Canada. Meanwhile, for whatever reason, it’s now unavailable on Amazon US – we’ll let you know if that changes.


Original (3/31): The Super Mario-kun manga has been ongoing in Japan since 1991. While the series has never been localized into English previously, that’ll be changing this year.

Viz Media has announced that it will offer an English version under the name “Super Mario Bros. Manga Mania”. Rather than releasing individual volumes, it sounds like we’ll instead be receiving a highlights compilation.
