General Nintendo

Le Figaro has another, Nintendo-specific report up on its website. Most of the information concerns sales figures in France, but there are a few notes outside of that as well.

Here’s an overview as to what’s mentioned in the article:

– 3DS down 6 percent in 2015 compared to 2014
– Wii U down 4 percent in 2015 compared to 2015
– 5 Nintendo titles were in the top 20 overall game sales for France last year
– Mario Kart 7 sold over 225,000 copies in 2015
– New Super Mario Bros. 2 sold 180,000 copies
– Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer sold 250,000 copies
– Nintendo didn’t expect the success of Happy Home Designer in France
– Nintendo was targeting young girls in 2015 with games like New Style Boutique 2
– That game sold 130,000 units in one month
– Splatoon sold over 300,000 copies
– Over 1 million amiibo figures sold in France last year
– That’s twice the amount as in 2014
– Animal Crossing amiibo cards have sold over 250,000 packs
– More game launches with amiibo planned for this year, such as Wolf Link and Twilight Princess HD
– Zelda Wii U, Fire Emblem Fates, Bravely Second, Dragon Quest VII, Dragon Quest VIII are all big games this year
– Yo-kai Watch is another key game
– Yo-kai Watch supposedly didn’t do well in North America despite Nintendo’s marketing
– Games are still the most important to Nintendo, but the company is diversifying (Universal Studios, etc.)
– Nintendo is teaming up with clothing companies like Vans (shoes), Undiz (women’s underwear/pajamas)

Yesterday, the Japanese Zelda Twitter account began sending out new messages to promote Twilight Princess HD. There’s another post today, though this time it’s more about the series in general. Along with the timeline image above “Malo” wrote the following:

“…it’s Malo. This is a rare article brought by the pops with mustache… (note: likely Aonuma) So according to this, this story is the era of victory of the Hero of Time. The Hero of Time? …I don’t know the details, but why is everyone wearing green clothes? …if they’re of the same brand. That’s gotta be really good product appeal.”

A special episode of Game Center DX featuring Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash has just been uploaded to Nintendo’s Japanese YouTube page. You can view it below.

The latest episode of Nintendo’s Japanese show Nyannyan Neko Mario Time has now gone live. We’ve included it below.

Two amiibo pre-orders are now up on Best Buy. You can reserve Ryu here and Famicom R.O.B. here. Roy isn’t up, so he might be a GameStop exclusive as rumored a few months ago.

Another set of amiibo are due out towards the end of this week. Nintendo will release Lucas in addition to the latest Animal Crossing figures and cards. In the image above, you can see in-store stock estimates for the different amiibo.

For the most part you shouldn’t have too much trouble locating the different amiibo. Online is also an option, and they’ve been pretty well-stocked at places like Amazon thus far!
