Square Enix is seemingly ending the Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker series. With Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, which launches in Japan next February, no additional games will be created. The latest issue of V Jump mentions that this latest title will be the final adventure and “grand finale.”

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 Professional will be a compilation of sorts. Over 700 monsters will be included in the game. The original Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 came out in March.

The Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker series started out on DS a decade ago. In North America and Europe, the first two titles were localized, though the third one isn’t available in English currently.

Nintendo recently published another new interview on its Japanese website to promote the NES Classic Edition / Famicom Mini. This time, Yoshio Sakamoto of Metroid fame sat down to talk about Balloon Fight. Nick Mosier translated the piece, which had some interesting talk about how the game was made, memories of the late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, and a GBA hardware idea that was cancelled after making it to the mock-up stage.

We’ve picked out some notable excerpts from the interview below. You can read the full translation here.

Paper Mario players are only supposed to have access to the southern area of Toad Town after finishing the first chapter. But by using the “log skip” out of bounds glitch, you can get there ahead of time. Doing so lets you reach a part of the game early, essentially using teleportation to be ahead of where you should be.

What’s interesting about this all is that the Japanese version of Paper Mario has some dialogue that wasn’t found until just recently. When talking with NPCs here, they’ll say things that they normally wouldn’t – mostly about how you shouldn’t be there. Some even tell the player to “get in contact” upon seeing what they have to say.

Stryder7x explains it all in his new YouTube video below:

Another new character will be revealed for the arcade version of Pokken Tournament on November 1. On the official Japanese website, Bandai Namco teased the upcoming news. The announcement will take place during a Niconico stream per usual.

News will drop at roughly the following times:

– 4 AM PT
– 7 AM ET
– 12 PM in the UK
– 1 PM in Europe

Thus far, Darkrai and Scizor have been added to Pokken Tournament in arcades. Both were spotted in update files from the Wii U version several months ago along with Empoleon. Because of that, it’s likely then that Empoleon will be the newest character for Pokken Tournament.

13AM Games has been keeping Runbow updated over the past year with new content, but now the studio has confirmed that DLC is coming to an end. Shantae is the latest addition to the game, and now they’re just about ready to move on.

Now the question is: what’s Runbow’s future? It’s been a success for 13AM Games, so that’s something the team is trying to figure out currently.

In an interview with Hardcore Gamer, the developer mentioned:

“We are still figuring out where we are going to take this IP next. There’s a lot that can be done and we love all different types of games. We’ve had fans requests RPGs and Fighting Games in the Runbow family, but the flip side is that it might be nice to work on something else for a bit. I know it’s not much of a concrete answer, but the truth is we are still figuring it out!”

Whatever 13AM Games ends up doing with Runbow, it’ll likely be a hit. Runbow was one of the more successful indie games on Wii U.
