Next month, the Nintendo Game Seminar will be taking place once again in Japan. Nintendo held the event last year as well after it returned from a three-year hiatus.

The Nintendo Game Seminar is intended for Japanese university students who will partake in game making under the guidance of Nintendo developers. The Nintendo Web Framework was featured last year, but this time around, 2D Unity titles are the focus.

Nintendo will be taking applications between June 16 and June 29. The session period is set between mid-August 2014 and late March 2015.

Natsume has three Nintendo-related announcements in store for E3 2014, the company has teased. That’s in addition to the news Natsume will be sharing about new Virtual Console releases.

Community manager CeeCee wrote in a recent “State of the Farm” Tumblr update:

We’re saving a few secrets for closer to the show, but expect not one, not two, but THREE new Nintendo titles we’ll be announcing leading up to and at the show! This doesn’t include any classic eShop titles (and we’ll have some news on those as well). Will they be 3DS, Wii U, or a mix of the two, you ask? You’ll have to tune in from now until June 10th to find out! 😀

I originally thought that Natsume would be announcing a localization for the latest Harvest Moon 3DS game, but as we know, XSEED ended up with the publishing rights. It’ll be interesting to see what’s announced!

Club Nintendo has been experiencing various issues over the past few days, in large part due to the launch of Mario Kart 8. Those who register their copy of the game on the website are entitled to a free Wii U game download.

Nintendo has now issued a very brief comment about the situation, acknowledging that Club Nintendo is experiencing high levels of traffic. The company also thanked users for their patience.

IGN has put up some new comments from Nintendo producer Hideki Konno and Mario Kart 8 director Kosuke Yabuki. The two ended up sharing interesting bits about Mario Kart’s origins, the difficulty in implementing anti-gravity for Mario Kart 8, and how the racer’s Sunshine Airport course came about from a previous entry’s development.
