A special Fate/Extella collection was announced for Switch, where “the characters from Fate/stay night, Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Grand Order, and other Fate continuities are making their own appearances.” You can pre-order either the Japanese or Asian version, though the title supports the English language as well as Japanese and Chinese. It releases on December 20. Find more information on its Play-Asia pre-order page.

 

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

It’s time for the latest Famitsu’s most wanted games chart. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Persona Q2 continue to battle it out for the top Nintendo spot with just a few votes separating the two.

Head past the break for the full chart. All votes were cast between October 11 and October 17.

Halloween is just a few days away, and Nintendo is celebrating with a small download for 3DS owners. If you head on over to the eShop, look for the “Games to Play on Halloween!” video app.

The app has six videos in total. The first one, “Games with Spooky Levels!”, showcases five 3DS games that will get you into the Halloween spirit. There are also individual videos for “Luigi’s Mansion Semi-Spooky Video”, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Mario Kart 7, and Yo-kai Watch Blasters.

The app only takes up 630 blocks of space, or 78.75MB.

The next game in the SEGA Ages series has been dated for Switch. Phantasy Star will launch digitally on October 31, SEGA announced today. It was originally scheduled for release in September.

SEGA Ages – Phantasy Star will have a number of features, including a bestiary, item and magic list, and auto-mapping functionality. The item list displays weapons and armor, what characters can equip them, their stats, any unique attributes, and their prices. Additionally, there’s a music player, which is equipped with a built in FM Sound Unit and includes 19 tracks from both the original version and the FM Sound Unit version.

I’ve been a gamer since cartridges were the size of a Switch, and through those many nostalgic years, I’ve built up memories. Those memories are dear to me and though some may be more tinted by the goggles of time than others, reliving them in my adult years still brings back emotions I had all but forgotten. There is a part of my brain that wonders, “If I’m using precious hours playing old games, what new games am I not experiencing?” This dilemma has become even more apparent as we enter the age of “ports”. I love both new and old experiences, and now find myself torn by the two. These are some of my thoughts on the subject, what are yours?

Sky Force Anniversary

Infinite Dreams brought Sky Force Reloaded to Switch earlier this year. According to a new North American eShop listing, the company will soon be releasing Sky Force Anniversary as well.

Sky Force originally debuted in 2004. The Anniversary version maintains the shoot-’em-up gameplay, but adds 3D graphics and more.

Gear.Club Unlimited 2

Gear.Club Unlimited 2 has been playable at Paris Games Weekend, and some off-screen footage has popped up showing the game in action. Check out the video below.
