Ghost Trick return interview fans

In an interview with Famitsu this week, original Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective director Shu Takumi and new producer Shingo Izumi discussed how the game’s recent return came to be.

You might be interested to learn that fans played a pretty big role in making the re-release possible. Aside from a petition that gained notable traction, Izuma said the title “ranked first on a list of games fans wanted remakes of, far ahead of the game in second place.” Yuki Kaji, who played Phoenix Wright in the Ace Attorney anime, also told Takumi at one point about how the mobile version no longer worked. That prompted Takumi to reach out to original producer Hironobu Takeshita, which “really became the start of everything.”

As the director and producer respectively, Hidemaro Fujibayashi and Eiji Aonuma are two of the most important people working on the Zelda series currently and they recently finished up Tears of the Kingdom as director and producer respectively. Both have been involved with the franchise for decades at this point. Fujibayashi started out with Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages in 2001 while Aonuma has been around even longer – specifically in 1998 with Ocarina of Time.

Fujibayashi and Aonuma, speaking with RTL Nieuws, were recently asked if they’re afraid of getting “stuck” in the sense that they only continue to work on Zelda games. However, both don’t seem to view it that way.

Here’s what the two shared:

A new month started up today. Now that we’re in July, we want to know what you’ve been playing.

Are you going through the recently-released ports of Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 for Switch? Still playing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? No matter the case, let us know in the comments below.

During a panel at Anime Expo today, Bandai Namco unveiled Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash. The game will be launching on Switch “soon”.

At Anime Expo 2023 today, Bandai Namco revealed new details about Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections – specifically concerning a new story mode starring Boruto plus new characters Nanashi and Merz.

In the story mode, Boruto meets Nanashi, a navigator from the popular online game Ninja Heroes. This sets various events in motion that leads them into a battle involving the entire ninja world. Ultimately things will come down to whether Boruto can stop the crisis of the Fifth Great Ninja War. And speaking of that, Merz is a mysterious man who plans to start the war. We even see Naruto and Sasuke battling it out at one point. Nanashi and Merz are the two characters who hold the key of the story.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Link figma

Anime Expo 2023 is taking place this weekend, and several new figures have been revealed – including a brand new one for Link based on his appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Link will have its own figma from Max Factory. Further details, including a release window, were not announced. We also thus far only have a look at the figma in prototype form as the production process is early on.

The most recent Nintendo Direct sure had a ton of great announcements, but Sam wanted to take some time to highlight all the phenomenal looking platformers that were shown off in our latest video.

Many great games are on the horizon, highlighted by Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Sonic Superstars. The bizarre reality of a new 2D Mario and Sonic game releasing alongside each other in 2023 is something we can get behind. And speaking of Sonic, we can look forward to Penny’s Big Breakaway from the makers of Sonic Mania early next year.
