Speculation about a potential Switch version of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is back in the spotlight – for the moment anyway.
DHX Brands published a new “Licensing Source Book Europe” for Spring 2018, and has some comments from merchandising company GB Eye. Max Arguile, who works there as as a licensing manager, claims that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will be brought to Switch. This is part of a five-year plan in which another Crash game will supposedly launch in 2022.

Update: Bumped to the top. Though the rumor itself still stands, a new Sonic karting game has been ruled out for now. Aaron Webber from SEGA’s social media and PR ruled that out on Twitter:
Hi guys – saw rumors floating today about another SART game. Just wanted to confirm it’s not a thing!
— Aaron Webber (@RubyEclipse) January 30, 2018
Original: Sumo Digital has worked on two Sonic kart racers for SEGA. Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing launched in 2010, followed by Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed a couple of years later. A third entry could now be a possibility.
Slides from a supposed Sumo presentation have apparently leaked online. One page covers project in development at the studio, including an unannounced karting game based on an “established global IP”.

Could David Wise be working on something at Retro Studios? That’s the latest rumor going around.
Last February, EvB – otherwise known as EvilBoris, said that “Retro are definitely working on something Donkey Kong related.” He added that it could be awhile before we saw anything from that. When someone praised Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, he also responded with: “Funny you should say that”.

Rumor: Switch overtakes Xbox One sales in Spain
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 13 Comments
Switch has been hitting all sorts of milestones as of late. As one example, the platform has become the fastest-selling home system in a number of countries, including Spain. Nintendo appears to have reached notable mark in Spain as well.
Gamereactor reports that, in Spain, more Switch units are out there than the Xbox One. If the site’s information is correct, Nintendo has sold more units in 10 months than Microsoft has in almost 50.
Gamereactor further adds that Switch has sold over 300,000 units in Spain. As for the Xbox One, it was hovering just below that number by the end of 2017.

Rumor: New 2D Metroid in the works
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 60 Comments
After a fairly lengthy hiatus, 2D Metroid was back in the spotlight with Samus Returns. Nintendo and MercurySteam partnered together on the 3DS game, which debuted last September. It wasn’t entirely new, but was a remake of the Game Boy title Metroid 2: Return of Samus.
Samus Returns could be just the start of Metroid’s 2D resurgence. Rumor has it that another entry in the franchise is in development.
Rumor: New LEGO games on the way based on The Incredibles 2, DC villains
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 23 Comments
Comic Book is reporting on two new games Warner Bros. and TT Games have in development.
The first project carries the unconfirmed title “LEGO Incredibles 2” and is naturally based on Pixar’s upcoming film. There could be some truth to this, as a catalogue showcasing LEGO toy sets for 2018 leaked several months ago and mentioned an unannounced game linked to an unspecified Pixar property.

Leaked video of Switch version 5.0.0 confirmed fake
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 75 Comments
Update 2 (1/10): At this point it’s hardly a surprise, but the person behind the video has come forward, confirming that it’s fake:
Well guys, I'm sorry.
The Switch 5.0 Leak is OFFICIALLY fake! I'm proud to announce that I was behind the mock-up that so many of us wish that @NintendoAmerica learns from.
Thank you to everyone for your kind words, and lets all pray for a direct soon! pic.twitter.com/T17qu3FIpx— NintenFanart (@NintenFanart) January 11, 2018
Update: A couple of red flags have been pointed out since the video first made the rounds. First, the YouTube icon pictured isn’t the latest logo. Secondly, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe seems to be shown on the console as a digital download, that would take up 6.8GB of memory – yet it only shows that 2GB is used in the video. For now we unfortunately have to lean much closer to this being fake.
Original (1/5): A new video has made its way online that claims to offer a look at Switch version 5.0.0. It shows a few significant features, including folders, the ability to create an online lounge, cloud storage, themes, and more.
Here’s the video in question:
The video does an admirable job of coming off as legitimate, but in this day and age, you can never be too certain. We’ve definitely seen realistic “leaks” in the past that ultimately turned out to be fake. In any case, we should know if this is the real deal fairly soon, as the person who uploaded the video claims the firmware launches in early February. For now, take this with a big grain of salt.

At this point, it’s safe to say that there’s going to be a Nintendo Direct this month. An EA leak pointed to it. Amazon put up over a dozen placeholder listings yesterday before promptly taking them down. And it’s no secret that Nintendo’s lineup for this year is mostly a mystery.

Rumor: 64-gigabyte cartridges delayed for Switch
Posted on 6 years ago by Joshua in Rumors, Switch | 51 Comments
Originally planning on releasing 64-gigabyte cartridges to developers by the end of 2018, Nintendo has delayed their availability to outside developers until 2019.
The Switch cartridge with the largest memory capacity today can hold 32 gigabytes. It seems that massive games will have to wait a little longer.
Nintendo has stated that the delay is due to “technical issues.” It has been suggested by the Wall Street Journal that Nintendo could alternatively have business ties with rival companies that prevents them from releasing the cartridges so early.

Rumor: Burnout Paradise rated for Switch in Brazil
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 33 Comments
Could Burnout Paradise be making its way to Switch? A supposed classification from Brazil could provide at least some hope that it could be happening.
The Enemy claims that the listing below is legitimate, though it is no longer in the database. Either it was removed because the information was shared when it shouldn’t have been, or it didn’t exist in the first place.
