Rumors

There’s a bit of talk going around regarding a possible new update for Wii U. It appears that a few console owners are seeing evidence of new firmware in the “Download Management” area, but it has not been successfully downloaded. It would seem that the download was initiated by Nintendo for a small sample of users, though was then pulled soon after.

Shadow of the Eternals was an interesting project. It was created as a spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness, and even had Denis Dyack – the director of the GameCube game – on board for the new title.

Precursor Games hoped to fund Shadow of the Eternals on Kickstarter, but failed twice. That ultimately led to the studio putting its game on hold indefinitely.

It’s rather interesting then that Shadow of the Eternals has returned (potentially anyway) in an unexpected manner. IGN uploaded the trailer above to its YouTube channel a short while ago without any sort of announcement regarding the game’s return. The video also showcases “Quantum Entanglement Entertainment” as the apparent developer.

Who are these guys? A quick Google search yields no results. Is Shadow of the Eternals back in development with Quantum Entanglement Entertainment at the helm? Has Precursor morphed into this new studio? Hopefully we’ll receive some answers soon!

Elminage Another Story seems to have been pushed back in Japan, as Amazon is now listing a November 13 release date on its website. The game was last expected out sometime this month. Although Star Fish hasn’t officially announced the delay, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Elminage Another Story slip another few weeks.

There’s more talk going around about Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS potentially supporting DLC.

Messages have apparently been found in the 3DS version that could be used to create data for downloadable content, for instance. Other recently-discovered code could allow for character and stage DLC to be loaded.

Rumor has it that the shop will be titled “Notifications Shop” – at least in Japanese.

Will any of this pan out? Will Smash Bros. actually get any DLC? Only time will tell…

Update: We may now have all Mega Evolutions (supposedly). This can also be found after the break.

Since this may be considered spoiler-territory, we’ll be extra safe. Head past the break for the new Mega Evolution!

Is The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth coming to Wii U? The snapshot above would indicate that to be the case!

What you’re actually seeing is about an image taken from a new clip found on Nicalis’ YouTube channel. View it below:

Much of the speculation regarding The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for Nintendo platforms has been focused on a potential 3DS version. It’d certainly be a surprise if the game lands on Wii U instead!

More: ,

Fire Emblem’s Tharja was set to appear in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS as a collectible trophy. However, it’s rumored (repeat: rumor!) that she was ultimately cut, as her clothing was a bit too revealing and would have forced the game into a higher age rating bracket – something Nintendo wanted to avoid.

Tharja was included in a large batch of leaked Smash Bros. 3DS photos – supposedly from the ESRB – back in August. Now that the game is out worldwide, it’s clear that she isn’t in any version (North America, Europe, Japan).

Check out the gallery above for a few photos of the removed Tharja trophy.

Update: Clarification: this post actually comes from the Super Smash Bros. Facebook page – not Nintendo’s Facebook page. The post is also still published, and can be seen below:

The image above is said to have been posted on Nintendo’s Facebook page earlier today. It was intended to act as a recap for the past week, but it appears that a new stage was included in the roundup.

We’re presented with a shot of Kirby and Pikachu in a mine cart. There’s talk that the stage could be based on either Donkey Kong or the Kirby All-Star’s The Great Cave Offensive mini-game.

The screenshot definitely looks legitimate! We’ll mark this as a rumor just to be safe. For all we know, an official “reveal” could happen this week.

Thanks to Felix for the tip.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS could be getting downloadable content – at least for stages – if a recent discovery is anything to go by.

Check out the following text that was found in the game’s ROM dump:

Set the stages that won’t appear, even when selection is set to random.
All Off
All On
Turn all stages off.
Make all stages available when using random stage selection.
See stages you have downloaded.
See all regular stages.
Select OFF to exclude this stage from random stage selection.
Select ON to include this stage in random stage selection.

Fans are saying that this matches the stage selection in additional rules perfectly. You’ll also see the missing square in the image above, which is just like in the stage selection screen. There’s speculation that this is where you’ll be able to select DLC.

The signs are certainly there, but if/when Nintendo confirms DLC for Smash Bros. remains to be seen.

Watch Dogs will be heading to Wii U on November 18, if Ubisoft Mexico’s Facebook page is to be believed.

A message posted on the page reads:

We’ll follow up with Ubisoft’s US branch to see if the date can be verified. Until then, consider this a rumor.
