Rumor: Tharja trophy removed from Smash Bros. 3DS to avoid higher age rating
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 31 Comments
Fire Emblem’s Tharja was set to appear in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS as a collectible trophy. However, it’s rumored (repeat: rumor!) that she was ultimately cut, as her clothing was a bit too revealing and would have forced the game into a higher age rating bracket – something Nintendo wanted to avoid.
Tharja was included in a large batch of leaked Smash Bros. 3DS photos – supposedly from the ESRB – back in August. Now that the game is out worldwide, it’s clear that she isn’t in any version (North America, Europe, Japan).
Check out the gallery above for a few photos of the removed Tharja trophy.
Rumor: Smash Bros. Wii U stage leaked via Nintendo Facebook post
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 12 Comments
Update: Clarification: this post actually comes from the Super Smash Bros. Facebook page – not Nintendo’s Facebook page. The post is also still published, and can be seen below:
The image above is said to have been posted on Nintendo’s Facebook page earlier today. It was intended to act as a recap for the past week, but it appears that a new stage was included in the roundup.
We’re presented with a shot of Kirby and Pikachu in a mine cart. There’s talk that the stage could be based on either Donkey Kong or the Kirby All-Star’s The Great Cave Offensive mini-game.
The screenshot definitely looks legitimate! We’ll mark this as a rumor just to be safe. For all we know, an official “reveal” could happen this week.
Thanks to Felix for the tip.

Rumor: Smash Bros. 3DS ROM dump hints at stage DLC
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 8 Comments
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS could be getting downloadable content – at least for stages – if a recent discovery is anything to go by.
Check out the following text that was found in the game’s ROM dump:
Set the stages that won’t appear, even when selection is set to random.
All Off
All On
Turn all stages off.
Make all stages available when using random stage selection.
See stages you have downloaded.
See all regular stages.
Select OFF to exclude this stage from random stage selection.
Select ON to include this stage in random stage selection.
Fans are saying that this matches the stage selection in additional rules perfectly. You’ll also see the missing square in the image above, which is just like in the stage selection screen. There’s speculation that this is where you’ll be able to select DLC.
The signs are certainly there, but if/when Nintendo confirms DLC for Smash Bros. remains to be seen.

Watch Dogs will be heading to Wii U on November 18, if Ubisoft Mexico’s Facebook page is to be believed.
A message posted on the page reads:
We’ll follow up with Ubisoft’s US branch to see if the date can be verified. Until then, consider this a rumor.

Rumor: Next Level Games worked on a Metroid prototype before Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 15 Comments
Before Next Level Games started work on Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, the studio was working on “a completely different project for Nintendo”. This is known thanks to an Iwata Asks interview published last year. Perhaps the project in question was a new Metroid game.
Concept art was recently uncovered from the profile of a former Next Level Games employee, which includes shots of an apparent Metroid prototype. Since the staffer left Next Level in late 2009, it’s possible that this was the prototype the studio was working on prior to Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. Sadly, we may never know the full story!

Rumor: Black 3DS XL with Luigi’s Mansion 2, pink 2DS with Tomodachi Life coming to Europe
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
Italian retailer Gamestart is listing a new 3DS XL bundle for Europe.
A package featuring Luigi’s Mansion 2 is apparently on the way, which includes a black 3DS XL. This is apparently set for release on October 3.
Also rumored is a pink 2DS with Tomodachi Life. A packaging shot isn’t available at this time.
Until Nintendo makes official announcements, consider these two bundles unconfirmed for the time being.
Nintendo UK store lists November release month for Amiibos – Smash Bros. Wii U as well?
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 6 Comments
Nintendo put up listings for the various Amiibo figures on its online store today. What’s particularly interesting is that each page includes a “November” release date.
As many of you know, Nintendo has said that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will release alongside Amiibo. Might this mean that the game will launch in November?
Rumor: Toys “R” Us memos point to LEGO Jurassic World game
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Warner Bros. Interactive has given us LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Harry Potter, and plenty more. Now it looks like the company could be producing a LEGO Jurassic World game as well.
Website Jurassic World managed to get its hands on two memos within the Toys “R” Us system from April and July. They reveal that a “video game contract” is in the works for LEGO Jurassic World.
As nothing is officially confirmed, we’ll consider this a rumor for the time being. But LEGO Jurassic World could be pretty neat if this turns into something concrete…
Is this the starting roster for Smash Bros. 3DS?

The image above comes straight from a listing on the Japanese 3DS eShop. Might it reveal the starting roster for Smash Bros. 3DS? It shows every character announced thus far with the exception of Lucina. Only time will tell!
Rumor: New 3DS doubles up on RAM, and almost doubles VRAM
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in New Nintendo 3DS, Rumors | 17 Comments
The New 3DS will be more powerful than its predecessor thanks to a beefed up CPU. It also seems that the system could offer extra RAM and VRAM.
As reported by 3dbrew:
Based on disassembly of certain sysmodules for code added/changed with in the 8.0.0-18 update, it appears that the “New 3DS” has the following changes:
They extended FCRAM from 128MB to 256MB.
They added another VRAM (?) of 4MB.
