Picross S+

Today, Jupiter announced that it’s developing Picross S+, which will combine all of the past entries in the 3DS lineup into a single package for Switch.

With the closure of the 3DS eShop, there’s currently no way for new players to experience the Picross e games. This is what the upcoming Switch edition is looking to remedy.

Red Dead Redemption Switch

Thanks to GamesIndustry, we have new insight into the UK gaming market for August 2023.

In terms of hardware, Switch sales fell 5 percent compared to last month. Overall sales for the year have slipped by 10 percent, and though it’s slowing down, the system isn’t seeing a massive drop-off yet.

Touhou New World update 1.1.0

A new update has landed in Touhou: New World, and version 1.1.0 brings along a brand new Bullet Hell difficulty option.

This mode naturally makes things much more difficult. Enemy barrage is increased, enemies have more HP, and more.

Outside of that, the game has implemented an improved dash plus the store features a Mystery Capsule dispenser. Some bugs have been taken care of as well.

Here’s the full rundown:

A new update has been released for Two Point Campus, bringing the game up to version 8.2.133665 on Switch. This update fixes a number of bugs previously present in the game, and updates a few features. Full patch notes can be found below:

Warriors of the Nile 2 release date

Warriors of the Nile 2, which we originally reported on at the start of the year, now has a release date. Publisher Gamera Games and developer Stove Studio nailed it down for September 21, 2023.

As a reminder, Warriors of the Nile 2 is a turn-based strategy game with roguelite elements. More information can be found in the following overview:

Devil Engine Complete Edition

Original (7/5): Beep Japan, Poppy Works, and Protoculture Games have revealed that Devil Engine: Complete Edition is on the way to Switch. The game is slated for release on October 12, 2023.

If the name Devil Engine sounds familiar, that’s because it was announced for Switch way back in 2019. Dangen Entertainment was originally set to publish. We had even heard about Ignition DLC that was teased in the main game. Devil Engine: Complete Edition will finally bring us the Switch version as well as that DLC and 1993 Shenandoah as an extra bonus.

Fashion Dreamer preview

It’s a bit mind-boggling to think about, but somehow the Switch has gone its entire lifespan so far without receiving a Style Savvy game from Nintendo, despite getting three great titles in the series on the 3DS. Fortunately for fashion fans, XSEED Games and Marvelous are bringing a spiritual successor of sorts to the platform with Fashion Dreamer, a Switch exclusive that represents something of a new approach to the genre, emphasizing freeform play and social sharing in ways that just wouldn’t have been possible during the 3DS era.

Side-scrolling platformers are a classic genre – in fact, for many players they’re the first kind of game ever picked up. As a child in the 90s, my introduction to video games was a classic NES Mario title, and upon booting up Curse Crackers: For Whom the Belle Toils, I had a wave of nostalgia wash over me, reminding me of what games looked like when I was small. The intro sets up the back story just like what I was used to, and seeing character portraits and pixelated text felt like a blast from the past. The chiptune soundtrack made me crack a smile immediately. Diving a little deeper, I wanted to know if Curse Crackers was more than just an homage to bygone times, or if it could stand by games of the modern age.

Super Brawl Rush

Ratalaika Games and Somepx will release Super Brawl Rush on Switch this week, the two sides announced today. It will be available on September 15, 2023.

Super Brawl Rush is a boss rush beat ’em up game that takes place in the scorched post-apocalyptic lands of the near future. The title has players selecting champion while fighting swarms of bloodthirsty thugs, mutants and cultists.

We played more games at PAX West this year than we have time to feature individually, but there were a ton of little surprises we had the chance to try that we’re looking forward to seeing on Switch. If you’re looking for some low-key games to unwind to after a busy day, here are five chill and relaxing games to keep an eye on!
