Gamekult has a new interview up with Nintendo France’s Philippe Lavoue. Among other things, Lavoue discussed sales expectations for Switch.

So far, Nintendo is seeing pre-orders similar to those of Wii in France. The company also expects to sell 800,000 units this year, which would be the lifetime sales of Wii U. That includes 95,000 units on day one with a near 100 percent conversion rate with Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Gray is currently more popular than the neon option at the moment. However, Lavoue thinks things will ultimately shift in the opposite direction.

A new image has surfaced from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s apparently the boot screen from the Wii U version, but it also seems to be story-related. Because of that, we’ve posted the image after the break.

In an interview with alistdaily, GameStop senior director of merchandising Eric Bright spoke about Switch in-depth. One big takeaway is that the retailer is seeing “tremendous demand.”

He said:

“We’ve seen tremendous demand for Switch. And of the initial allocation of pre-orders we took, the majority of them were done by PowerUp Reward customers. They’re definitely looking for this device. We have a ways to go before we satisfy all the demand that’s out there.”

Bright brought up several positive points about Switch: the portable factor, Q1 launch, third-party games, and support of indies.

Earlier today, we started to learn about the functionality of the new Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo – specifically the new Link figures. Now we have news about the other parts of the lineup.

Much like Link, the Zelda, Guardian, and Bokoblin figures seem to unlock items. The Zelda one for instance provides a particular shield. Rather than being exclusive, all of the figures just appear to give you access to goodies earlier.

As was recently announced, Ultimate Chicken Horse is heading to consoles. That thankfully includes Switch. We have Nintendo to thank for it happening (at least partially), since the game’s developer says the big N “pushed pretty hard” for it to happen.

In an interview with Just Pause, Clever Endeavour Games CEO Richard Atlas said:

“The Switch has been an obvious choice for UCH (Ultimate Chicken Horse) since we started hearing rumors of it as the NX. Nintendo is traditionally quite closed about information and working with indies, but they’re doing a better job now and have pushed pretty hard for us to come out on Switch. Now that the information about the console is public, it’s easy to tell why the game is perfect for a party system like theirs.”

Ultimate Chicken Horse should be on Switch this summer if all goes well.

A bunch of new screenshots have appeared from Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Since one of the images depicts a boss, we’ve posted the gallery after the break.

Pikachu

Pokemon is about to ring in its 21st anniversary. To celebrate, Pokemon GO will be holding a special promotion.

Between February 26 and March 6 at 1 PM PT, when you encounter a Pikachu, it’ll come wearing a festive party hat. The Pikachu caught during that time will keep its party hat forever.
