Switch 2

Monster Hunter Wilds producer Ryozo Tsujimoto has been asked about a potential Nintendo Switch 2 port of the game in light of the system’s recent announcement.

Unsurprisingly, Tsujimoto wasn’t going to announce anything right there in the interview with Gamereactor. However, he did say Capcom “would need to take time over the coming future to learn exactly the nature of the hardware and how we’ll be using it best”.

With Nintendo Switch 2 on the not-too-distant horizon, it’s almost certain that we’ll receive a new Super Smash Bros. game at some point within the next few years. And there’s plenty of debate on whether it’ll be an enhanced port of Ultimate or not – it’s possible this statement won’t age well, but we’re of the opinion that what we’ll see will be an all-new game. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate itself will be playable as-is on Nintendo Switch 2 via backwards compatibility, and we think the next entry will need to look significantly different in order to make the casual player recognize the difference. Look at Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, for example – both were available on the same system, but couldn’t have looked more different in terms of aesthetics.

With the idea of an all-new Smash Bros. in mind, we’re going over several brand-new fighters we’d like to see in the next game. We don’t quite expect that every single character from Ultimate will make it to the next title, but it can counter-balance that with high-quality newcomers (mainly, ones with unique movesets and mechanics). There’s absolutely a place for two different Super Smash Bros. games on the same console, and here are some of the characters we think would help set it apart.

Take Two Switch 2

Take-Two reported its financial results today, and during a call with investors, the company commented on potential support for Nintendo Switch 2.

CEO Strauss Zelnick shared a few words here. First, he brought up Take-Two’s “longstanding relationship with Nintendo”. Also mentioned is how now with Switch and Switch 2, these consoles “can support any audience” whereas the publisher didn’t always feel that way about some previous Nintendo platforms. Zelnick seemed shy to bring up any specific plans, but based on his comments, it sounds like we can count on games to follow in the future.

Zelnick’s full comments regarding Nintendo Switch 2 are as follows:

Switch 2 mouse patent

Original: Although patents are often hit and miss when it comes to how significant they are in terms of actual products, a new one has come to light that strongly points to mouse-like functionality for Nintendo Switch 2.

The ability to use Joy-Con similar to that of a mouse isn’t exactly new. There were rumors and leaks pointing in that direction before the system was officially announced last month. Then once Nintendo put out its reveal video for Nintendo Switch 2, talk about mouse-like functionality was further supported after Nintendo showed some footage hinting in that direction.

Nintendo Switch 2 price

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently weighed in on the price of Switch 2 – which as of now has not been announced – as well as the status of Switch 1.

During the Q&A session of the company’s financial results briefing, one investor brought up the current situation with inflation and exchange rates. Furukawa acknowledged that there’s been a big change here since Nintendo Switch 1 arrived in 2017 and noted that the company will “need to consider the affordable prices that customers expect from Nintendo products.”

We have a few more words out of Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, who today commented on Switch 1 sales in light of Switch 2 arriving later in 2025.

Furukawa told investors that the company doesn’t believe that the recent announcement of the new console will greatly affect sales of its current system. “We don’t think the impact of reluctance to buy is that great, and although we consider this to be a solid eighth year, we were unable to reach our target,” he noted.

Nintendo Switch 2 mouse support

Though not yet officially confirmed, one heavily-rumored feature of the Nintendo Switch 2 involves its supposed ability to use the Joy-Con’s infrared sensor as a mouse. We’ll absolutely find out if this is true when the upcoming Nintendo Direct airs on April 2, but in the meantime, all we can do is speculate. And speculate we shall, because Switch 2’s rumored mouse support could be a game-changer for some of Nintendo’s biggest franchises. Today, we’re looking into games that would benefit most from this feature – both existing titles as well as potential new ones.
