UK sales for June 2023

Thanks to GamesIndustry, we have new insight into the UK gaming market for June 2023.

For the second consecutive month, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was the best-selling physical game. However, it placed #6 overall. Nintendo does not share digital data, so it could have landed higher.

Irem Collection Volume 2

ININ Games, Irem, and Tozai Games have now announced Irem Collection Volume 2. This follows the previous package that was only just confirmed for Switch back in May – we have the rundown here.

Volume 2 includes arcade classics GunForce, GunForce II, and Air Duel. All of these are notable for different reasons. Gunforce will include both the SNES and arcade versions, GunForce II will have its first official worldwide launch on consoles, and Air Duel is seeing its first official worldwide release. Harvest Moon The Winds of Anthos debut trailer

Natsume just issued the first trailer for Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos. The game was announced earlier this year, but was only shown in screenshot form.

EDGE #387 review scores

The latest EDGE review scores for issue #386 are as follows:

Ahead of its release on Switch in a couple of months, Bandai Namco have shared a new trailer for Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster. The “Story from the Guardians” trailer gives us a brief overview of the story of the two titles included in the collection, as well as another look at the card-based combat system.

Gex Trilogy

Gex Trilogy is in development and will release on Switch, Square Enix and Limited Run Games just announced.

Gex, a platforming series, got its start in 1995. Gex: Enter the Gecko followed in 1998, and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko closed the series out in 1999. This marks the first time these games will be re-released on modern platforms. Also, as they’ll be using Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, we’ll likely see some improvements.

Tomba

The classic adventure platformer Tomba! is making a comeback on Switch, it’s been revealed. Limited Run Games just shared the announcement as part of its annual showcase.

Tomba! was originally created by 1997 by Whoopee Camp. It stars a feral child who looks to recover his grandfather’s bracelet from an evil race of anthropomorphic pigs.

Until now, the game has never appeared on platforms outside of the original PlayStation. It will also be updated in Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine.

Double Shake

The 2.5D platformer Double Shake will be making its way to Switch, Rightstick Studios revealed today. Fans will be able to pick it up in 2024.
