Nintendo PAX East 2023

Nintendo has passed along details about what it has in store for PAX East 2023. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom won’t be playable, but other plans are in place.

NintendoVS Arcade will be available, which involves “a series of challenges for families, kids, friends and pros in recent and classic games” on Switch. Additionally, the Splatoon 3 North American Championship 2023 tournament and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Championship Cup 2023 tournament will be taking place at the PAX Arena. Those stopping by the expo will have an opportunity to enter the final qualifier for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Championship Cup right from the show floor.

Disco Elysium Collage Mode update

ZA/UM Studio today announced a new update for Disco Elysium, which adds a brand new Collage Mode. This will be rolling out on Switch “over the coming days”.

Collage Mode lets players create and set the scene in and around Martinaise. It provides full access to characters, environments, effects, and custom dialogue to make “the screenshots that they have always desired and fabricate completely new dramas from unforgivable punch-ups to fruity yet forbidden kisses.”

The latest Japanese hardware sales from Famitsu are as follows:

A new set of games has just made its way to Nintendo Switch Online, consisting of Kirby’s Dream Land 2, BurgerTime Deluxe, Side Pocket and Xevious. As all of these games are available on the NES, SNES, or Game Boy versions of the app, they’re also playable right now without requiring a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack service.

Here’s some information about the different games:

Toy Soldiers HD physical

Limited Run Games is preparing a physical release for Toy Soldiers HD, the company just announced. It will be available as part of its distribution line.

Only a standard version is planned. No special editions will be available.

Infernax Deux or Die update multiplayer

Original (2/28): Infernax is celebrating its first anniversary with a major new free content update known as “Deux or Die”. It will be available sometime this spring.

The update will include a new multiplayer mode that introduces an original character with two unique movesets. A second person can control Cervul the Squire, son of Harold, Unenthusiastic Heir to the Brown Mound.

Touhou: New World

Touhou: New World, otherwise known as Touhou Shinsekai, has now been announced for English release in the west. XSEED is officially committing to a summer release window, though a trailer that came out today specifically mentions July 13.

Touhou: New World was previously announced in February. However, that announcement was only for Japan.

Touhou Shinsekai

Original (2/5): Publisher Marvelous and developer Ankake Spa today unveiled Touhou Shinsekai, a new bullet hell action RPG for Switch. The two sides have not yet confirmed a release window.

Marvelous has simply stated that in the upcoming game, players can enjoy exhilarating action in which they avoid tons of bullets and take down enemies with flashy skills.

This past week’s Nintendo Direct wasn’t focused on games, but it did give us a detailed look at the one thing we all wanted to see – Mario’s Boots (oh, and a new Super Mario Movie trailer).
