Producer gives insight into the players of Splatoon
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 15 Comments
Hisashi Nogami, producer of Splatoon, was interviewed in last week’s Famitsu. There weren’t any major revelations, but Nogami did share some interesting tidbits. We now have some news about those who have been playing Splatoon online.
The ratio between Turf War and Ranked Battle players is roughly fifty-fifty. New players tend to concentrate on Turf War while those who have played for long time usually focus on Ranked Battle. The recent update increased point bonuses for Turf War, which perhaps made some people to go back to that mode. Of course, there are also people who have always enjoyed Turf War since launch.
The interview also says that there were many players during the end of 2015 and start of 2016, which may have been due to the holidays and start of the new year. The current numbers have dropped off in comparison, but there is still a stable number of players.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild had a bit of a leak before E3, and no one noticed
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch, Wii U | 105 Comments
When someone comes forward claiming to have a leak on a game, it’s almost always fake. However, there are rare occurrences when people are actually being truthful. That’s exactly what happened with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild several months ago.
It wasn’t a major leak, but GameFAQs user “RedVersion” did share some information about the anticipated NX/Wii U game ahead of its unveiling at E3 in June. RedVersion obtained “a few screenshots from an actual developer”, though only showed tiny bits of the UI to back up his claim. The user explained that he was “paranoid” about someone getting in trouble, so what was shown was limited.
In any case, here’s a look at the two images that were posted:

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night delayed, now targeted for the first half of 2018
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 21 Comments
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was originally scheduled to arrive next March. Unfortunately, the game is now seeing a major delay.
In a Kickstarter update, creator Koji Igarashi explained that he wants to ensure that the project meets his “quality standards”. With the team’s “current production set-up and release deadline,” that may have been impossible to realize. New developers are now being brought in to keep development going at a steady pace. This all means that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night won’t be ready until the first half of 2018.
Here’s the news straight from Igarashi:
