Ubisoft has worked with Mario on two games now as part of its Mario + Rabbids series, but we’ve been wondering if the team would have interest in playing around with another Nintendo franchise. This is something that we posed to producer Xavier Manzanares in a recent interview.
Manzanares said the studio has “tons of dreams”, and thought about “a lot of other characters” when it was initially moving towards working with Nintendo in 2014. On the topic of wishes being fulfilled, he said having Bowser playable in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is “already a dream come true for us”.
The Pokemon series is no stranger to pre-release information leaks, and something similar may now be happening with Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. Although the titles are still a few months out, unconfirmed details have been popping up over the past few days.
The source seems to have originated from a Chinese leaker, and Twitter outlets like CentroLeaks and Pkmnleak have been rounding up the information. Tidbits cover new Pokemon, which creatures are / aren’t returning, the Pokedex, a new gimmick, and more.

Takashi Tokita, the director of Live A Live, told One More Game that Square Enix was originally considering localization. But since “sales prospects in Japan did not seem particularly promising”, it was never released in other regions.

We’ve heard that the studio “discovered a couple of small tweaks that needed to be made to the game’s control scheme in order to provide the highest possible quality for controller-users.” The PC version is still moving forward on July 28, but controller support will be added for that platform in alignment with the Switch release.
According to the latest NPD report, Switch was the best-selling console in the United States for the month of June in terms of unit sales. The same also applies for 2022 thus far as a whole.
Switch did lose out to the PlayStation 5 in both categories when it comes to dollar sales. However, one factor to keep in mind is that Sony’s console is more expensive – the cheapest version is $400 while the other model is $500. The Switch Lite costs $200 and other models are priced at $350.
This month’s NPD report also includes the latest on software sales. In June, Mario Strikers: Battle League debuted at #3 on the chart. Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes came in at #16. You can see the full results here.
