Yesterday, some news emerged about a potential F-Zero game for Wii U. Nintendo of Europe asked Criterion to work on a pitch for a new entry in the franchise for Nintendo’s console back in 2011, but the studio declined since it was busy bringing Need for Speed: Most Wanted to a number of platforms.
Alex Ward, who was formerly with Criterion, commented on the situation via Twitter yesterday. It seems that talks weren’t far along, which would make sense based on yesterday’s initial report). Ward also indicated that he personally isn’t interested in working on someone else’s IP.

A few days back, lots of details leaked about upcoming content for Splatoon. That included news about maps, modes, and weapons.

The Fire Emblem 0 (Cipher) card game is out now in Japan. Some of you may be wondering about how it’s actually played. Thanks to some details translated by Siliconera, we have the full rundown. A summary of information can be found below.
– Cards have illustrations from various artists
– The big number on the bottom-left shows its strength with a support power number to the right
– The card also has other information on the class unit, range, and skills
– Play with 50-card decks
– 1-on-1 battles
– Begin by choosing your “protagonist”
– Then you’ll fight it out with the help of other cards from your respective decks
– Need to defeat the other player’s protagonist
– Both players will draw a card that becomes their supporting character
– Add the strength from the original card and the support power of the other
– You can then see which side has the higher attack
– If your number is the same or higher than the opponent’s, it counts as a successful attack
– Both players have two sides to their respective fields: the frontline area and the back row area
– Cards with higher strength do better in the frontline
– In the frontline, they can take out enemies directly in front of them
– Those with higher ranged numbers can attack from the back row, and are difficult to hit
– Everything is turn-based
– Both players obtain more cards to attack with over time
– Cards come with all kinds of skills
– Cards can also work with other cards using their skills
– The “bond” shared between the character cards is one of the key features of the card game
Nami Tentou Mushi, developer of Ping 1.5+, is planning a new first-person shooter for the Wii U eShop.
Just a few details about the mystery title have been shared thus far. Nami Tentou Mushi hopes to support sixteen players online, while local multiplayer will allow five players to battle it out. It will be possible to create levels through a “Grid” system, and there will be eight characters to choose from with unique traits, weapon sets, and more. Expect over-the-top-styled gameplay as well as “zany” items and match-changing items.
Nami Tentou Mushi shooter will sport cel-shaded visuals. Due to its violence and language, it should be an “M” rated game.

Retailers are beginning to open pre-orders for Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden. Amazon is first, and reservations can be placed on the retailer’s site here.
Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden arrives on October 20. Amazon lists the 3DS fighter for $30, which indicates that it will be a slight budget release.

Building off rumors concerning Nintendo and Amazon’s relationship comes additional speculation about NX. Here’s the latest:
– When Nintendo announced their mobile games, Amazon was very interested in having the games also be on the Amazon App store.
– Nintendo games will be on the Amazon store on day one, or shortly after Play Store and App Store.
– Amazon is asking Nintendo what they need to do to have Amazon App Store games play on Nintendo consoles
– Amazon got the impression that Nintendo is thinking about emulating Android games.
– Nintendo will not create an Android system, but instead will emulate Android games. It’s not something that’s confirmed, but just an interpretation of the conversations.
