The Nintendo Treehouse has been around for plenty of years, and is one of the main reasons why games are localized from the Big N these days. But there are plenty of different departments inside such as the marketing support team and brand management/Pokemon team.
Bill Trinen, Nintendo of America’s director of product marketing, recently spoke with Siliconera about the different divisions at Nintendo Treehouse as well as the team as a whole. He also discussed his origins with the company and shared a tiny bit about Shigeru Miyamoto.

The official Super Smash Bros. Facebook page is teasing “a few special surprises” for San Diego Comic-Con 2014.
The message reads:
This year’s Comic-Con will take place between July 24 and July 27. Nintendo will be streaming from the expo on July 25 and July 26.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash II has a collaboration with Monster Hunter Frontier G. Starting on July 24, players can get their hands on weapons and armor from Falcom’s RPG.
Here’s the lowdown:
– Weapons/armor for Rean Schwarzer and Alisa Reinford will be offered
– Rean’s weapon is a long sword type
– Alisa uses a bow
– Get special Trails armor as a present when you purchase a Trails in the Flash II kit
– Ends on August 6
Well, that didn’t last long! Comic Workshop came out on the North American 3DS eShop yesterday, and it included support for Miiverse so that users could post and share comics. Now though, this is no longer possible. Nintendo disabled the feature and sharing comics through Miiverse is a thing of the past.
Why the quick change? One theory is that some members included photos of themselves in their comics. This is naturally a big no-no in Nintendo’s book.
Nintendo will be putting a few Wii U Virtual Console games on sale on the Japanese eShop next week.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, and EarthBound will be discounted from 926 yen to 700 yen. Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid, F-Zero, and Kirby Super Star will be available for 600 yen as opposed to 823 yen.
These prices will be valid between July 22 and July 31.
Super Toy Cars is launching on the North American Wii U eShop next week, according to a listing on Nintendo’s website. It will be available on July 24.
As discovered earlier this week, Super Toy Cars is also releasing in Europe on the same day.
Nintendo has opened a new “Camp Miiverse” community that allows fans to participate in gaming events spanning across the entire social media network over the next few weeks. Anyone and everyone is eligible to join so long as they have the games that will be played.
Here’s an overview of Camp Miiverse from Miiverse’ Tom:
And here’s a look at the first challenge:
This isn’t quite Camp Hyrule, but it’s nice to see Nintendo trying to bring back the online camp experience!
