Mega Man 11

Recently, Famitsu published a big interview with a couple of the developers working on Mega Man 11. The Japanese magazine caught up with producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya and director Koji Oda.

There was a lot of interesting discussion in the lengthy interview. Tsuchiya and Oda went in-depth on how it went about bringing back the series, why the team opted for a more 3D look, the Double Gear system, different difficulty options, and more. There’s also a bit of talk about the future and other topics like the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2.

We’ve posted our full translation of the interview below.

Okami HD

Today, Capcom started the pre-load option for Okami HD on the Switch eShop. This applies to both North America and Europe. If you plan on downloading the game, you’ll need 9.1GB of free space.

Below are a few screenshots:

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate does have a listing on the European eShop. But in North America, that’s no longer the case. The page is missing, meaning you can’t pre-load the game in North America.

We have a feeling that this is just a minor mix-up. Capcom should put the page back before launch, and with the pre-load option. Even if that doesn’t happen, you should be able to purchase the digital version upon release.

Thanks to Nao★Mi (Rikaria) for the tip.

Mega Man 11 - Blast Man

Capcom has shared some brand new information about Mega Man 11. Along with a new Robot Master, we have details on new modes.

Blast Man is the next Robot Master officially introduced. The boss “hops around the room while slinging explosives everywhere in his attempt to turn Mega Man into scrap metal.” Before heading to Blast Man’s lair, you’ll need to navigate through the ruined remains of a theme park and movie studio hybrid.

Next month, the Mega Man X Legacy Collection will be launching on the Switch. However, one of the more questionable design choices will be undone for this release.

Mega Man X5 was localized for the Americas in 2001, but instead of naming its robot bosses as per usual, they were given names in reference to Guns N’ Roses band members. Capcom has decided that the collections will have the traditional names for these bosses, which longtime fans will surely appreciate. The community was not too pleased with this unconventional decision in Mega Man X5, but their displeasure did not go unnoticed!

A Capcom representative gave more details courtesy of GameSpot:

“In our mission to make these collections an authentic Mega Man X experience, we took the opportunity to better align the naming of the Mega Man X5 Mavericks across all regions for better narrative cohesion across the series, making the names more aligned with the original Japanese version release. We hope that fans appreciate our intent to unify the Mega Man X Maverick-naming convention all these years later.”

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2

Both Mega Man X collections are now up for pre-load on the Switch eShop. This applies to both North America and Europe.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 launches July 24.

Capcom

During its latest shareholders meeting, Capcom was asked about its impressions regarding Switch. The company responded by pointing out that Monster Hunter XX is available, and that it intends to “continue developing other titles for this platform in the future.”

One tweet that has been making the rounds on Japanese blogs is from Twitter user koudaiseidaos, who supposedly attended the shareholders meeting. This person notes that Monster Hunter World isn’t going to be happening on Switch, but Capcom supposedly wants to continue with the franchise on the console and have future plans for it. This does not appear to be documented on Capcom’s website (including the official Q&A transcript from the latest meeting), however, so we’d advise taking that message with a grain of salt.

In terms of what’s been officially announced, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 drops on Switch next month. Okami HD and the western version of Monster Hunter XX follow in August. Lastly, Mega Man 11 launches in October.
