Update: European date is now confirmed and SteamWorld Dig should be out in North America around the same time:

The European Wii U eShop is currently listing SteamWorld Dig for release on August 28. We’re trying to follow up with Image & Form to verify that the date is accurate.

August 28 would definitely make sense. We just heard a short while ago that Image & Form is targeting SteamWorld Dig’s Wii U launch for late August.

SteamWorld Dig’s Wii U version is launching towards the end of this month, developer Image & Form confirmed on Twitter. This is actually earlier than the studio planned.

Aegis Defenders, a new 16-bit tactical platformer from GUTS Department, has a chance of coming to Wii U. The game’s Kickstarter will need to hit $150,000 for this to happen.

Although raising such a high amount may seem unrealistic, Aegis Defenders’ Kickstarter did manage to collect nearly $40,000 in its first day. There’s also over a month remaining in the campaign.

You can check out Aegis Defenders on Kickstarter here.

One of the more prominent criticisms surrounding The Letter concerns the game’s length. For many, the entire experience can be completed in a half hour or less.

The Letter’s length is something that developer TreeFall Studios addressed in a recent Miiverse post. Creator Eli Brewer believes that despite its short nature, “The Letter is a finished game”. Future updates, Brewer said, “will greatly enhance/change the experience of the game, yet they are all additional content coming after the initial game, not updates to finish the game.”

Here’s the Miiverse post in full:

Dahku Creations announced Soon Shine for the Wii U eShop earlier this month with plans to launch in mid-August. Now, thanks to a listing on Nintendo’s website, the title has been confirmed for release on August 14. You’ll be able to pick up Soon Shine for $1.99 at launch.

Dark Roast Entertainment recently revealed its debut title, “Lucadian Chronicles”. The game will be coming to the Wii U eShop sometime in the future.

Here’s an overview straight from Dark Roast:

Lucadian Chronicles is a strategy game where you form teams of 5 heroes in different configurations and pit them against other teams. Rather than going into details… have you ever played Magic the Gathering, or Pokemon? If so, have you ever spent some time sitting on your carpet creating your deck as you simulate in your head how the deck is gonna work? Well, Lucadian Chronicles is a game about that moment; thinking and imagining how it’s gonna work.

Lucadian Chronicles will make use of the Wii U’s various features, including Miiverse support, GamePad functionality, and more.

Yes, you read that title correctly! Collectorvision is planning its new game “Justice Beaver” for the Wii U eShop and, surprisingly, the SNES.

The developer shared the news on Facebook yesterday:

Justice Beaver isn’t the only retro-related project coming from Collectorvision. Sydney Hunter and the Mayan’s Revenge are both in the works for the NES and will be available this year.
