Cavelight Entertainment has become an official Wii U developer, and could bring “Velocity Stream” to the eShop. At the moment, Cavelight isn’t in possession of any dev kits, so a Wii U release would likely arrive after the PC version.

Velocity Stream is an asymmetric racing game. While it may seem like a traditional racer, the “paver” mixes things up. One player controls the paver, which can create endless streams of energy for the other participants to race on. The track’s angle, width, and obstacles can all be modified.

Team Kakumei confirmed on Twitter yesterday that the indie group is now an official Wii U developer. The studio’s first order of business will be to bring the Ouya title Wrecking Balls Arena over to the eShop as “Wrecking Balls Arena DX”.

Wrecking Balls Arena DX can be considered a sequel/expansion to the initial game. It will sport new stages, items and gameplay elements. As of now, a tentative 2014 release is planned.

Team Kakumei staffer Jonathon Bont spoke about the ease in which the group became a Wii U developer on Twitter, commenting:

USK has rated KickBeat for Wii U, likely signaling an upcoming release of Zen Studios’ game on Nintendo’s console. Nothing has been made official at this time, but I imagine we’ll be seeing an announcement in the future. We’ll keep you up to date with any official news that comes in.

BLOCK DROP U creator Michael Aschenbrenner provided an update on the game’s release date, price, and free stages planned for release later in the year while speaking with Nintendo Life.

He told the site:

Plan is to release in Q1 of 2014 for the North American markets at $1.99. The project has been submitted to NoA for review as of this writing. I am also working on a release for Europe and Australia, but that may not hit the Q1 timeframe and instead slip into Q2. No plans to launch in Japan, unless there is a publisher that would like to bring it to that market! I do have plans to add in 20 FREE new stages in Q2/Q3 2014, with a final batch of 30 FREE additional stages in Q4 2014. Bringing the total number of stages in the game to 80 with no increase in price.

Aschenbrenner also spoke about using HTML5 within the Nintendo Web Framework on Wii U:

Basically it (HTML5) is a web-based programming language. The same type of code that generates websites can now be used for interactive entertainment.

…Of course none of this would be possible without tools and documentation from Nintendo. Most of the code is natural HTML5, but there are situations when hardware or services must be called into your project that require specific Nintendo API’s (application programming interface).

NinjaBee originally hoped to have A World of Keflings out last year. That didn’t happen, but the studio is now targeting a late Q1 2014 launch for its Wii U eShop title.

Edmund McMillen’s interest in bringing The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth to 3DS hasn’t waned. Unfortunately, he’s still facing the same issues with Nintendo – that being how the company objects to the game’s religious aspects

McMillen wrote in a recent Q&A for Rebirth posted earlier today:

we want to release on 3ds, and will if given the option. isaac currently goes against Nintendos publishing rules due to its religious aspects.. but stuff might change, you never know.

Publisher Nicalis said last August that The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth could still come to 3DS. At this point, the only way this would seem to be possible would be if the title’s religious elements were removed.
