Shin Megami Tensei IV Final’s debut Japanese sales are half of its predecessor, 73% sell-through
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 16 Comments
Shin Megami Tensei IV Final sold just over 96,000 copies in its first week in Japan, as reported by Media Create a few days ago. The sales tracker has since relayed additional information about the game’s performance.
According to Media Create’s data, Shin Megami Tensei IV Final sold through 73.28 percent of its initial shipment. On the other hand, the first Shin Megami Tensei IV sold 189,000 copies in its first week with a sell-through rate of 80.14 percent. That means sales were halved with Final, and the consumption rate was a bit lower. This new 3DS entry also saw about half as many few pre-orders – 56,000 units compared to the original’s 98,000 copies. Overall, Media Create points to an assumption that a percentage of series fans who bought the prequel have left the scene.

Marvelous opened up the website for Story Seasons: Good Friends of Three Villages today. The site offers an overview of the game’s systems and also provides a look at two new characters from Tsuyukusa Village – Kasumi, a marriage candidate for the male main character and Yuzuki, a marriage candidate for the female main character. The folks over at Gematsu translated some info about these new characters.

Kasumi is a teacher in a private outside of Tsuyukusa Village. She’s a quiet girl who rarely talks to men her age, but she loves riding horses.

Yuzuki is a gentle but frail young man who makes metallic ornaments for a living. He likes sweet foods and can usually be found at his workplace.
The website also features several new gameplay clips. The first one shows off the creation of a female main character:
