Nintendo just published its next Gamescom 2019 presentation featuring Luigi’s Mansion 3. Check out the full video below.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 director Yoshihito Ikebata has spoken more about the origins of Gooigi. Although he’ll be appearing in the Switch game in a few months, his first appearance was in last year’s 3DS remake of the series’ initial entry.

Ikebata told Polygon that the idea for including Gooigi in the Luigi’s Mansion 3DS remake first came about after he’d been imagined for the Switch game. He also stated:

Luigi’s Mansion 3 finally has a release date. The game will launch worldwide on October 31, Nintendo just announced.

While Nintendo will have Luigi’s Mansion 3 ready for Halloween, that date is a bit atypical. We see Nintendo’s games arrive on Fridays, so this is a bit out of the norm.

Luigi's Mansion 3

Nintendo has yet to give Luigi’s Mansion 3 a proper release date. Aside from confirming a 2019 launch, the company hasn’t said when exactly we can expect the Switch game.

Amazon Mexico may have some insight. According to the retailer, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is on track for October 4.

We’re generally wary of posting unconfirmed retailer release dates, but there could be something to Amazon Mexico’s listing. For one thing, the site previously leaked South Pack: The Fractured But Whole and RPG Maker MV for Switch. October 4 is also a Friday, so it’s a realistic date. We would still advise maintaining some skepticism, but it’ll be interesting to see if this pans out.

E3 has come and gone, but some outlets are still coming out with content from the event. Gamespot had a chance to sit down with two key figures involved with Luigi’s Mansion 3: producer Kensuke Tanabe and the game’s supervisor, Yoshihito Ikebata. You can find the full interview here; below are some of the highlights:

Almost every 2019 game featured in the E3 Nintendo Direct was given a release date. However, there was one notable exception: Luigi’s Mansion 3. Some fans might be wondering why we haven’t found out when it’s coming out yet.

Speaking with Polygon, Nintendo’s Bill Trinen said that Next Level Games is “putting a lot of care into the game. We want to let them put the care into it they want, so we’re waiting on them to let us know and we’ll solidify the release date.”

Having Luigi’s Mansion 3 ready for Halloween would certainly make a lot of sense. We’ll have to want and see if the next ends up meeting that release window.
