Pokemon

Thought you were finally getting close to catching them all thanks to the recent release of Pokébank? Well too bad because it looks like another Pokémon is on the way, according to leaked scans from an upcoming CoroCoro magazine. This new Rock/Fairy type Pokémon, Diancie, brings the total number of monsters in the series to 719.

Along with this screenshot, Sakurai passed on the following message via Miiverse:

Pic of the day. Palkia appeared in the Spear Pillar stage of the previous game…but now it’s coming out of a Poké Ball?! Here’s Palkia’s signature move, Spacial Rend!

After a month-long delay, Nintendo’s Pokémon Bank app is finally available on the European and Australian 3DS eShop. For the low price of absolutely nothing (plus a subscription fee), those in PAL regions can now transfer their beloved Rattatas from the fifth generation Pokémon titles to Pokémon X/Y.

Will the popularity of the application cause the eShop to crash yet again? Will Pokémon Bank also make it to the American eShop this week? Will my internet connection ever be stable enough to actually download the bloody thing? Stay tuned to Nintendo Everything for more details.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata shared an interesting nugget of information about the Pokemon franchise last week.

Initially, the company was given an indication that the creatures shouldn’t adopt the “cute” aesthetic fans have come to know of today. “This cute yellow thing is not a monster, everyone told us,” Iwata said.

Hiroshi Yamauchi, however, stuck to his guns. Yamauchi was shown mock-ups of a muscular Pikachu, but it didn’t sit well with the former Nintendo president.

“When you adapt too much, you lose what’s unique about you,” Iwata concluded.

Shota Kageyama, a composer who worked on Pokemon X/Y, Pokemon Black/White, and Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, has left Game Freak. Kageyama also contributed to Luminous Arc and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Kageyama shared the news on Twitter last week in which he wrote:

[Greetings] Happy New Year, everyone. I’m sorry to raise a personal matter, but I left GAME FREAK, who has been good to me these past six years and seven months, on December 31 to start a new music brand called Spica Musica.

Along with gaming, Kageyama will be pursuing other areas of interest. Kageyama said that the staff at Game Freak sent him off with smiles and support, and he’s open to working with the studio again in the future.

A second patch for Pokemon X/Y is now available. Players can bring their game to version 1.2 with the newest update.

As for what the patch entails, the patch notes mention the following:

– Fixes an occasional bug causing Pokémon not to learn new moves after evolving through Wonder Trade.
– Fixes an occasional bug where certain captions for Trainer PR Videos were not unlocked in Lumiose City.
– Updates an Internet communication issue.
– Includes previous update (Ver. 1.1)

Nintendo released Pokemon X/Y’s first patch in October. That one corrected a game-breaking save bug found within Lumiose City.
