6th March 2014 – With engines revving and gravity-defying courses awaiting, the Mushroom Kingdom’s finest racers are set to line up on the starting grid on 30th May 2014 when Mario Kart 8 launches on Wii U. But in the meantime, whether or not you know your Blooper from your Bullet Bill, Nintendo has today announced two options to get your karting skills up to speed in the form of the Mario Kart 8 Limited Edition software bundle and a Super Mario Kart promotion coming to Nintendo eShop for Wii U on 27th March 2014.
Mario Kart fans who have ever unleashed a Spiny Shell item or been on the wrong side of one will know of their capacity to make or break a race, therefore as a memento of times both good and not so good, the Mario Kart 8 Limited Edition software bundle will come complete with a Spiny Shell Collector’s Item alongside a physical copy of Mario Kart 8, with the Spiny Shell proudly perched atop a black and transparent frame. Packaged together as a uniquely designed bundle, the Mario Kart 8 Limited Edition launches on 30th May 2014 and is ready for pre-order now from the Nintendo UK Online Store and selected retailers, available while stocks last. Customers in the UK & Ireland who have already pre-ordered the standalone copy of Mario Kart 8 will have the opportunity to upgrade pending availability. On March 9, Nintendo is hosting an invitation-only event for celebrities and media to celebrate the upcoming launch of the Yoshi’s New Island game for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. In the game, launching March 14, Yoshi bashes and thrashes his way through an island by throwing around Mega Eggdozers, which are huge egg-shaped objects that can destroy anything in their path.
During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in fun Yoshi-themed activities like seeing celebrities decorate a five-foot-tall Mega Eggdozer. Attendees can also get hands-on time with Yoshi’s New Island and enjoy special beverages and snacks.

21 February 2014: Calling all Pokémon players! The search for the best Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video game experts in the country is now on – as the Nintendo Pokémon X and Pokémon Y Battle Tournament 2014 is announced. As well as a quest to find some of the best Pokémon Trainers, Nintendo is also on the hunt for any new Pokémon players who want to test their skills and battle with their ultimate Pokémon teams. Great prizes for winners include a trip to Tokyo and Nintendo products. Four players will also receive fast track entry to take part in the UK Pokémon Video Game Championship series, organised by The Pokémon Company International, taking place in May.
The qualifying events kicking off on 1st March at selected GAME stores and shopping centres across Great Britain, will then lead to a Grand Final taking place in London in April.
