Hollywood Reporter is the latest outlet to have shared a few words with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. The two sides discussed Nintendo’s Black Friday success, why Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t on Switch, the importance of having announced Joker for Smash Bros. Ultimate, and more.

After The Game Awards last week, IGN spoke with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. One of the topics discussed is Nintendo’s commitment to E3 and why it’s so important.

Speaking about why E3 is a priority for Nintendo, Reggie stated:

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime was in attendance at The Game Awards where Nintendo unveiled Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s first DLC pack character. After the show ended, IGN caught up with the executive to talk about what fans can expect regarding future additional content in the future.

Reggie shared the following:

This holiday season will be especially important for Nintendo. The heavy hitters of the year – Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – are finally launching, and the company will need success in order to reach its goal of selling 20 million Switch systems this fiscal year.

The holidays are also important for Nintendo due to the high amount of sales collected during the period. Reggie said that “in the Americas, about 60% of our revenue during that time frame.”

Earlier today, Sony confirmed that it won’t be present at next year’s E3. Some might have been concerned about Nintendo’s status at the show, but fortunately, there’s nothing to worry about.

Fans can rest easy knowing that Nintendo’s presence is confirmed for E3 2019. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime also said that the show is “an outstanding opportunity for us to share new games and experiences with fans and business partners from across the globe.”

Earlier today, Mashable published an interview with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. One of the hot topics discussed – albeit brief – was Metroid Prime 4. Reggie noted that Nintendo is thinking internally about when the game will be released and is “well in development.”

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are undoubtedly Nintendo’s biggest games of the year. Sometime after their release, Nintendo could be inclined to share sales figures directly. But early reports indicate that both will be lighting the sales charts on fire.

Speaking with The Verge, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that the pre-sale trends for Pokemon and Smash Bros. “are tracking to the best we’ve ever seen on Nintendo Switch.” He added, “The consumer engagement through all of our digital activity has been exceptionally strong.”

As Nintendo heads into the busy sales season that are the holidays, Kotaku caught up with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. Reggie spoke about why people should be interested in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the goal of of selling 20 million Switch systems this year, and reflected on Switch in 2018.

One interesting commented popped up when Reggie mentioned that he would liked to have seen Smash Bros. launch earlier in the year. Why? Because an early December launch is “challenging” business-wise and retailer-wise.

While Nintendo was at the top of its game during the Wii era, the same can’t be said of Wii U. Wii managed to sell 100 million units while Wii U unfortunately couldn’t even make it to 15 million. There were certainly dark times, but Nintendo navigated through those difficult years and has found success once again with Switch.

During an appearance at GeekSummit earlier this month, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime was asked about how he and the company as a whole went about leading its staff during the Wii U era and keep them believing in their larger vision. Reggie’s response included a note about Nintendo’s constant reinvention, that the Big N is about doing things differently from others, and how “there will always be stumbles along the way.”
