Nintendo Switch

According to IHS Markit’s analysis, roughly $8 billion was spent on Nintendo products in 2017. That’s about double what the Big N generated the year prior. The arrival of Switch, the SNES Classic Edition, and continued 3DS sales contributed to the increase.

IHS Markit indicates that Nintendo will have a larger share of the console market than Microsoft this year. In 2017, over $10 billion was spent globally on Xbox hardware, software, and services.

New data is in providing a look at France’s best-selling games of 2017. We have the full top twenty below, including specific sales figures for each ranking.

A number of Nintendo games made the list, including Zelda: Breath of the Wild at over 500,000 copies sold. Super Mario Odyssey, Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, and 1-2 Switch also charted.

More:

Over the last year, we’ve reported repeatedly on the Switch’s sales success in France, most recently last month when Nintendo of France General Manager Philippe Lavoué revealed that the Switch had sold over 900,000 units in France in 2017. He also said that he expected that number to rise to one million by the end of February.

It turns out that his expectations were right on the money – Lavoué recently spoke with French newspaper Le Figaro and revealed that the Switch has indeed broken through the one million barrier in France alone as of last week.
