It’s crazy to think that it’s been almost twenty years now since the half-genie hero, Shantae, was introduced to the gaming world way back on the Game Boy Color. The debut entry not only laid the foundation of what would become a long-running and incredible platforming franchise, but at the time pushed pixel art to the absolute limits of its associated hardware. The series laid dormant for quite some time before Risky’s Revenge popped back up in 2010, and since then has seen a ton of success with a healthy schedule of releases. Now Shantae is back on an all new adventure that fine-tunes the HD art from Half-Genie Hero, and brings another incredible Metroidvania that sees new and old faces alike joining in to save the day.

WayForward previously announced a partnership with Limited Run Games to produce physical versions of Shantae and the Seven Sirens. We now have a first look at the collector’s edition. All copies include a copy of the game, a steelbook case, a commemorative Game Boy cart, and more.

Pre-orders open on May 15 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET for both standard copies and the collector’s edition. There’s no limit on units here, as reservations will be taken for four weeks.

Hello, my beautiful bubbles and bobbles. This week on NEP, we’re gushing about Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Oni tries (and fails) to not talk about FE3H the entire episode, while Galen picks arbitrary battles as he defends Cooking Mama. Oni also gives some first impressions with the Grandia HD Collection, and the gang discusses all the game announcements and details we got this week! Could a Nintendo Direct be coming next month?
We finish things off by chatting about games with sequels where one was exponentially better than the other. Both Galen and Oni dive into their pasts to pull up some sore memories of their favorite games…

If you’re enjoying NEP, please consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple Podcasts, aka new iTunes. It’s incredibly helpful in getting us exposed to new listeners through the algorithms, so we would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you for listening!
