GameStop has now opened pre-orders for the Octopath Traveler: Wayfarer’s Edition. You can reserve it here.

We should point out that the special edition has already sold out on Amazon, and it’s unclear if more stock will be made available. Signs are pointing to it being more of a limited release.

Square Enix has published the first web commercial for Octopath Traveler. It’s technically for the Japanese market, but has English narration. You can view the advert below.

It may have been absent from the overseas presentation, but Square Enix announced SaGa Scarlet Grace for Switch during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct. We now have a few additional details.

SaGa Scarlet Grace is a new version of the PS Vita game that originally made it to Japan in December 2016. On Switch, we can expect a significant volume of additional scenario, newly added voices, background music, characters, and other new elements.

There were a few announcements for Octopath Traveler today, including a special edition. This will vary a bit between North America and Europe.

In the stateside release, a soundtrack CD will be included. However, this isn’t the case in Europe. The Compendium Edition won’t have the CD, though it will feature the same pop-up book, map, and replica coin.

Dragon Quest has always been one of those series that’s remained niche for some reason, despite having a long and seminal history within video games. Throughout its many installments, we’ve seen Dragon Quest branch out and explore genres outside of its familiar RPG style. Dragon Quest, unlike some other properties that have a myriad of spinoffs, has actually adapted into these other genres rather fluidly, and the addition of Dragon Quest Builders adds to the list of awesome titles that hold their own outside of the main series, bringing a Minecraft aesthetic to the universe. While it may look like Minecraft at a glance, at the end of the day this really is just another Dragon Quest RPG, only with an emphasis for building and crafting. It’s an amazing mechanic that works to its favor, and with a storyline and vibrant worlds to keep you busy from chapter to chapter, Dragon Quest Builders is a game that’s very difficult to put down whether you’re familiar with the series, genre or not.

During its Dragon Quest Builders ‘Builders 100 Landscapes Contest: The Road to Builders 2’ broadcast earlier today, Square Enix debuted brand new footage of Dragon Quest Builders 2. We’ve included the relevant recording below.

Square Enix also revealed that if you have data from the first Dragon Quest Builders, you can bring it over to the sequel, though we don’t know the extend of this just yet. Specifics will be announced at a later date.

You may recall Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda mentioning a couple of months ago that Switch “is a very attractive and platform”. Matsuda reiterated this is the latest issue of EDGE.

Matsuda was asked by the magazine how Square Enix’s games have done on Switch thus far. Though it hasn’t been out long, their games “haven’t done badly”. Matsuda added that many people within Square Enix “are looking to make games for Switch.”

Last week, Japanese magazine Famitsu published a fairly lengthy Project Octopath Traveler interview. Producer Masashi Takahashi from Square Enix and director Keisuke Miyauchi from Acquire were brought in to discuss the Switch exclusive.

One point mentioned is how the team started this project with Tomoya Asano, the chief producer who also worked as producer of the Bravely series. The primary concept is “going on a journey.” The player would choose one of the eight protagonists, role-plays as them, and freely has a journey with the world.

Dragon Quest Builders is out now on Switch. For a look at the game’s launch trailer, continue on below.
