Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle E3 Miyamoto

Many would say that the official announcement of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will go down as one of the best E3 reveals. There was a lot of skepticism going into the show (and early leaks didn’t help), but Ubisoft quickly eased concerns about these two franchises coming together.

Ubisoft started out its Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle E3 segment by bringing Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto to the stage as a surprise appearance, who talked a bit about the game. He also had some fun with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot – the two wielded Blasters and put a lighthearted spin on the announcement. That was a good moment, but it was actually something Nintendo was hesitant to do, feeling it should be “more serious” according to Leon Winkler, who’s been running Ubisoft’s E3 shows.

The season of what would have been E3 isn’t fully over, but a good number of events are in the books. Summer Game Fest, one of the bigger shows happening this week, was held yesterday. Other things like Devolver Direct, Days of the Devs, and Wholesome Direct have taken place as well.

If we’re looking strictly at yesterday’s Summer Game Fest showcase, we did see a few Switch announcements – namely LEGO Horizon Adventures, Civilization VII, Harry Potter: Quiddich Champions, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, and Fear the Spotlight. Sonic x Shadow Generations also got a release date and new trailer.

What did you think of Summer Game Fest, and how are you feeling about the non-E3 season as a whole? Let us know in the comments.

Sonic x Shadow Generations release date

June 6: While we’re still waiting on the official announcement from SEGA, the release date for Sonic x Shadow Generations appears to be imminent. New leaks point to the game launching on October 25, 2024. On the record, it’s due out on Switch later in 2024.

Well-known leaker billbil-kun put out the claim on social media. That was followed up with another leak from MysteryLupin, who not only posted the boxart – see above – but also a new set of screenshots. The packaging image seems to reveal that copies include Gerald Robotnik’s journal covering Shadow’s creation and a Sonic Adventure legacy skin.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind

Today, Hasbo and Digital Eclipse unveiled Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind. Switch hasn’t been confirmed specifically, but it’s coming to consoles and Digital Eclipse tends to put all of its content on Nintendo’s console.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a retro-inspired action game based on the famous television show. The game promises a fresh adventure with an original storyline that both respects and remixes the lore with scenarios and gameplay that will be both familiar and new to MMPR fans.
