Next month, the Mega Man X Legacy Collection will be launching on the Switch. However, one of the more questionable design choices will be undone for this release.

Mega Man X5 was localized for the Americas in 2001, but instead of naming its robot bosses as per usual, they were given names in reference to Guns N’ Roses band members. Capcom has decided that the collections will have the traditional names for these bosses, which longtime fans will surely appreciate. The community was not too pleased with this unconventional decision in Mega Man X5, but their displeasure did not go unnoticed!

A Capcom representative gave more details courtesy of GameSpot:

“In our mission to make these collections an authentic Mega Man X experience, we took the opportunity to better align the naming of the Mega Man X5 Mavericks across all regions for better narrative cohesion across the series, making the names more aligned with the original Japanese version release. We hope that fans appreciate our intent to unify the Mega Man X Maverick-naming convention all these years later.”

Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion was very well received for its challenging nature, but as players start to complete its 80 stages, they might be left wondering what’s next for the single player story. Well, producer Hisashi Nogami made it clear that the team has no plans for any additional single player, premium releases.

In the same interview, it was recently confirmed that the team has not ruled out premium multiplayer content, which has not been seen in the Splatoon series to date. Both installments have seen a steady wave of free, post-launch weapons and maps for a year after launch, which have always been welcome additions. No confirmations of any additional premium content have been made yet.

Pokemon GO

Yesterday, Pokémon GO introduced friends, gifting, and trading systems for level 30 to 40 players. Now, the friend and social features will be available for all Trainer levels, and trading can be unlocked at level 10. The drop was expected, as a similar situation occurred when Raids first launched for players between levels 38 and 40.

Trading in Pokémon GO works much differently from their main series counterparts. You will have to level up your friendship with somebody to trade Legendary or other Pokémon. Additionally, you will have to be in a certain proximity to that person to engage the trade.

Most recently, Niantic introduced Alolan Pokémon to the game through wild encounters and gifted eggs, giving players an additional array of monsters to catch before the remainder of the Generation 3 Pokémon are released.

Mario Tennis Aces

Today marks the release of Mario Tennis Aces, the next installment in the long-running Mario Tennis series. Unfortunately, however, players have discovered that there are two important options missing from the game: the ability to adjust the length of the match and to choose what court to play on.

A stage select feature is fairly common in titles like Aces, but instead, the game randomly chooses from the seven available courts without any player input. You do have the possibility to disable all stages but the one you want to play on, but it ends up being an unnecessarily tedious process.

Many hope that Nintendo will add these features, as additional characters are being planned in the coming months. Thus far, Aces has a respectable score of 77 on Metacritic, with critics praising its refined mechanics despite a rather shallow single player experience.
