Some Miitomo users might be curious as to what Nintendo does with the answers they provide. In a statement sent to Kotaku, the company commented directly on how the data is used.

It was explained that answers are merely a way “to provide a better experience for Nintendo consumers and to support the application.” The company added, “Neither Nintendo nor any of its partners sells or shares that answer information for any other purposes.”

Here’s the full statement:

The goal of our Miitomo questions is to spark fun conversations with your friends and for you to discover new facts about them as they answer the questions being posed. That’s why Miitomo generally avoids yes or no questions. As to the answer information our consumers provide through the Miitomo app, it is only used to provide a better experience for Nintendo consumers and to support the application. Neither Nintendo nor any of its partners sells or shares that answer information for any other purposes.

Update (5/16): Bumped to the top. Winner of the rival genie has been announced:

Original (5/6): WayForward shared a new Shantae: Half-Genie Hero’s Kickstarter update just a short while ago. It shows off new promo art (see above), covers a rival genie vote, and confirms a physical version of the game.

Here’s the lowdown on the new rival genie vote for backers:

It’s time for another vote! Remember that “Fire and Forget” Stretch Goal you all funded into existence? In that storyline, Shantae gets REPLACED as Scuttle Town’s Guardian Genie. To make matter’s worse, her replacement is snotty, stuck up, and none too easy to get along with. So – what’s this new genie going to look like? You can see all three of Matt’s rough sketches above, along with the cleaned up in-game sprite designs below. Which one strikes your fancy? Vote by clicking the link right here, and make your selections by May 13th, 11:59pm PDT. Let’s get voting!

WayForward also reveals that it’s working on a retail deal for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. The studio explains what’s happening regarding this in the Kickstarter post:

We’ve received a ton of requests for physical versions of Shantae. Thing is, WayForward is a game developer and a digital publisher – but not an authorized retail publisher. In order to make physical copies of our games for stores, or distribute games in certain countries, console manufacturers require us to work with an authorized publishing partner. You’ve seen us do this before; Square Enix published LIT for WiiWare in Japan, Capcom distributed the original Shantae cartridge in the US, and more recently Intergrow released the boxed version of Pirate’s Curse in Japan for Nintendo 3DS.

The Pokemon Company and Niantic are expanding the Pokemon GO field test once more. Later this month, fans in the United States will be able to give the app a go.

The field test “will give users the opportunity to share early feedback and help improve the Pokemon GO experience.”

Those who are interested can sign up here. Note that doing so doesn’t guarantee access.

Next week, Dual Core from Gray Fin Studios will be released on the Wii U eShop. It’ll be out on May 26 in North America with the European version following a bit later (likely a few weeks).

Here’s an overview of the game:

Dual Core is a vibrant, futuristic, “twin-stick” style, shooter, with a strong focus on local co-op multiplayer.

It’s 2147 and the human colony on Europa has suffered a terrible fate. Rebooting after hibernation, two super-intelligent AI cores awake to find themselves installed within a couple of old security drones. Their attempts to uncover what occurred may end up becoming a lower priority than merely surviving…

Lots of robots, lots of lasers, lots of aliens, lots of explosions! The numerous retro arcade influences are front and center, but spiced up with a colorful modern style, a generous helping of sci-fi intrigue, and a dash of RPG ELEMENTS!

We also have this trailer:

Gray Fin Studios has been working on Dual Core for quite awhile – over three years actually. It was mostly a one-man project from the start of development to the finish line.

Nintendo has been sending out unique items in Tomodachi Life via SpotPass since launching in the west. Now after nearly two years, the distributions have ended.

If you have SpotPass enabled, you should be getting the last schoolgirl uniform color. Tomodachi Life’s news flash mentions that it’s the final Special Import item. These can now only be obtained from friends or with QR codes.
