Hot Wheels Unleashed has sold over two million copies, more

Mattel and Milestone are celebrating the sales success of Hot Wheels Unleashed, including the an announcement that the game has sold over two million copies worldwide across all platforms. The game has also seen more than eight million players registered. Racers have collectively spent the equivalent of nearly 929 years playing the game.
“We are always excited to find great partners that help us bring Mattel’s brands to fans in all-new ways,” said Mike DeLaet, global head of digital gaming at Mattel. “Milestone has done a phenomenal job with Hot Wheels Unleashed, and we’re thrilled that the Hot Wheels community has loved the game as much as we loved creating it.”

Baba Is You has just received a new update on Switch, and version 1.11 has gone live.
Various adjustments and fixes are included. Some new additions as here as well like a new level in Museum of Unused Levels.

Nintendo Live 2023 announced for the US

Nintendo has just announced Nintendo Live 2023, “an in-person event for fans of all ages that will take place in Seattle this September”. This had previously debuted in Japan.
Nintendo Live 2023 will feature gameplay, live stage performances, gaming tournaments, photo ops, and more. It will also “celebrate Nintendo’s unique entertainment on the Nintendo Switch system, inviting all members of the family to come together, play and have fun.”
UK sales for March 2023

Thanks to GamesIndustry, we have new insight into the UK gaming market for March 2023.
In terms of console sales, Switch was the second-best-selling console of the month. Sales for the system were up slightly in March compared to February. The Super Mario hardware bundle comprised 12.8 percent of all Switch consoles sold last month, behind the white OLED (23.6%) and the neon Switch (26.3%).
Roguelike shooter Die After Sunset announced for Switch

Publisher PQube and developer Playstark announced today that they’re putting Die After Sunset on Switch. The game is due out later in 2023.
Die After Sunset is an action-packed roguelite shooter with hundred of items, unique quests, monstrous bosses, and hordes of enemies. Players can choose from three unique characters, complete quests, and become stronger after every run.

Have you ever wondered why there are floating blocks in the Mushroom Kingdom? This is just one of the questions the team behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie needed to think about while working on the project. Perhaps surprisingly, they even came up with an explanation.
Aaron Horvath, one of the directors on The Super Mario Bros. Movie, spoke about this in an interview with Variety. It turns out that the team came up with the term ‘floatanium’, which helps keep those blocks floating in the air. Adding more to the lore, it was decided that the mineral is natural to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Rogue Company ending support for its Switch version in June

Hi-Rez Studios and First Watch Games announced today that they’re ending support for the Switch version of Rogue Company. This is expected to happen on June 20, 2023.
In a blog post, it was mentioned that “the performance of our Switch port was not up to our standards, and we were unable to provide the level of support our players deserve.” Removing resources from Nintendo’s console “allows us to provide players on other platforms better support & focus for their specific issues, as well as deliver updates with more flexibility and frequency whenever needed.”
