Illustrator Yusuke Omura, a character designer at Game Freak, has revealed some interesting origins for the Ultra Beasts in Pokemon.
These creatures were first introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon. They weren’t the typical kind of Pokemon we were used to seeing as they stem from a different, known as the Ultra Space.

Top Speed is this week’s Arcade Archives game on Nintendo Switch 2, Switch

Hamster is bringing Top Speed to Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, the company confirmed today. Look for it tomorrow, February 5.
Taito originally released the title, also known as Full Throttle, in 1987. The racer features a nitro boost to spice things up a bit.

A new listing has been found which may hint at a new Xenoblade Chronicles release for 2026.
Over on Spotlight, fans have apparently spotted a page for Caitlin Thorburn. We did look to see if we could find it ourselves, but had no luck – it may not be publicly available, but we’re marking this as a rumor regardless.
Super Mario Party Jamboree 2.3.0 update out now, patch notes

A new Super Mario Party Jamboree update is here with version 2.3.0. This applies to those playing on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch.
The main highlight is support for Polish. On top of that, other unspecified adjustments and fixes have been implemented.

Drag x Drive 1.2.1 update out now, patch notes

Nintendo has delivered a small update for Drag x Drive with version 1.2.1.
As relayed in the patch notes, a problem has been addressed in which the effect of defensive pressure on opponents’ halfpipe shots was smaller than intended. Other issues have been fixed as well.

Nintendo Switch Online adds Game Boy games Yoshi, Balloon Kid

Two more classic Game Boy titles have just arrived on Nintendo Switch Online with Yoshi and Balloon Kid. Both can be accessed on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch.
Balloon Kid is the older of the two games having debuted in 1990. Yoshi isn’t too far behind though as we first saw it soon after (1991 in Japan, 1992 in the west).

Nintendo of America and Teksystems hit with new labor complaints [update: withdrawn]

January 8: Game File has spotted two new worker complaints filed to the United States’ National Labor Relations Board within the last month involving Nintendo of America and contracting firm Teksystems.
The first one came about on December 9, 2025. Following that, there was another on January 6, 2026. The individual or individuals behind the complaints are not publicly available and information is hard to come by currently.
What we know currently is that the complaints allege violations of clauses 8(a)(1) and 8(a)(4) from the labor act. As relayed by Game File, these are as follows:
Borderlands 4 delayed indefinitely on Nintendo Switch 2, statement released

September 23: Borderlands 4 is seeing a delay on Nintendo Switch 2. This comes just a little more than a week until the game was expected on the console.
In a social media post, it was stated that the team is “committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that.” There’s hope that cross saves can be implemented as well. Nintendo eShop pre-orders will be cancelled because of the move.

ChainStaff heading to Nintendo Switch

ChainStaff is making its way to Nintendo Switch, publisher Null Games and developer Mommy’s Best Games announced today. It’s slated for April 8, 2026.
ChainStaff is a brutal side-scrolling action platformer. Players will swing, shoot, and spear through mutating hordes and bone-shaking boss fights.

SelectaPlay today unveiled Aero the Acro-Bat Legacy + Sunsoft Lost Gems, a new physical release for Nintendo Switch. It’ll be out this summer.
Aero the Acro-Bat Legacy + Sunsoft Lost Gems features six different classic games. Each one previously came to the Nintendo eShop, but will now ship on one physical cartridge.
