System: 3DS
Release date: October 17, 2017
Developer: Atlus
Publisher: Atlus

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth makes its numbered return since Legends of the Titan released back in 2013 for North American 3DS owners and brings with it a fresh new outlook while retaining the series’ staple of creating your own characters and telling yet another story of Yggdrasil, for better or for worse. While I’m a firm believer that Etrian Odyssey is one of the best dungeon RPGs around, if not the one currently leading the pack, Etrian Odyssey V also reminds me that while the classic mode is perfectly fine, the lack of any significant story makes for an overall grindy and unrewarding experience that doesn’t have exciting enough gameplay to make up for it.

Update (10/16): In an interesting twist of fate, Atlus has released Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prologue on PC. It can be downloaded for free here until December 24.

Original (10/13): Atlus has released a rather interesting trailer for Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux, which will be released in Japan on October 26 and next year in the rest of the world. The trailer initially shows off a Metroidvania-style game featuring Jack Frost and Pyro Jack. This is a callback to Jack Bros., an action game for the Virtual Boy featuring those characters. Sadly, this apparent sequel to Jack Bros. is quickly declared “fake” by the trailer, which then moves on to actual game footage. Give it a watch:

Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon players will soon have an opportunity to add Shiny Silvally to their games. Between October 23 and November 13, GameStop and EB Games will provide code cards. Codes can be redeemed in-game. They’ll need to be redeemed by February 13.

Shiny Silvally comes with its RKS System Ability. You can give it a memory disc to hold to change its type, then unleash its signature Multi-Attack.

Folks in the UK will be able to obtain Shiny Silvally between November 3 and November 16 at GAME.
