General Nintendo

Emily Rogers, who is known for sharing Nintendo rumors, made a new post on gaming forum Famiboards yesterday regarding supposed details for a new Fire Emblem game on Switch.

The juiciest tidbit is that the title has apparently been finished for over a year. While it was originally planned to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary, Nintendo ended up holding on to the game for a later date.

nintendo direct rumor june 2022

We’re in the middle of June and what would have been E3, so many can’t help but wonder if and when a Nintendo Direct presentation will air. Although there’s absolutely no confirmation currently, there’s talk that an event could be happening at the end of this month.

Today’s rumor comes from Alanah Pearce, a writer that previously worked at IGN and is now with Sony Santa Monica. During a live stream, Pearce seemed confident in stating that a Nintendo Direct is coming on June 29.

Pokemon multiplayer battles

According to Pokemon producer Shigeki Morimoto, the original entries in the series almost left out multiplayer battles.

That news comes from a Japanese Pokedex book from 1996, which was recently translated by Did You Know Gaming. Morimoto mentioned how he thought multiplayer battles “would be a pain to program”. Additionally, Game Freak was running out of time. Nintendo, however, essentially demanded for the feature to be included.

Why Nintendo Directs will never go away

We’re officially in the middle of E3 time (or when E3 would’ve been), and that means that Nintendo Direct discussion is heating up again. From so-called “leaks” to well-informed predictions, it seems like everyone has an opinion on when a presentation is coming, and what we should see in such a broadcast. This is always a fun season of thinking about what Nintendo has planned, but something that also comes up constantly when talking about this subject is: what if Nintendo just doesn’t air a Direct? And, furthermore, what if Nintendo doesn’t air one ever again?

Billy Kametz

Billy Kametz, a voice actor that had become particularly well-known over the past few years, has sadly passed away. Kametz died at just 35 years old.

In the Nintendo scene, he played Ferdinand Von Aegir in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Blue in Pokemon Masters. Most recently, he was Jerrom Laesmi in Triangle Strategy, and he also voiced Ogata in 13 Sentinals: Aegis Rim. In the anime scene, he had roles with the likes of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Did You Know Gaming has wrenched old interviews out of the archives to find that Game Freak’s original plans for Pokemon Red and Green included 65,535 variations of the games. Using the Trainer ID system as a base for this, players would be assigned a Trainer ID between 1 and 65,000 and this number would affect which Pokemon would spawn in game as well as the appearances of some forest areas in the world. “We also considered having each game generate a random ID number the first time it was booted up and that number would determine which Pokémon appeared in the game.” programmer Takenori Oota stated in a Japan-only book titled ‘PokeDex’ from 1996.

In another old interview published in a 1997 issue of Famimaga 64, Game Freak founder Satoshi Tajiri states:

“The shape of a forest, the Pokémon that would appear, I wanted to make a game that would be different for everyone but it was difficult. So I went to consult with Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo, and we ended up deciding to make it so that depending on the colour – whether Red or Green – the worlds would be parallel, but different.”

Castlevania: Nocturne

Netflix has announced Castlevania: Nocturne, a new animated series for the streaming service. A premiere date was not announced.

The show follows Richter, a descendant of the Belmont family. Fans will recognize the character from games such as Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. Richter was also a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Takashi Iizuka, the creative officer of Sonic Team, has again expressed interest in revisiting the Sonic Adventure titles with a new game.

This isn’t the first time Iizuka has commented on revisiting those prior entries. In 2018 for instance, he mentioned that he’d be up for a remake.

The Pokemon Company have updated their corporate website with their latest sales figures for the year end March 2022. As of that date, they report total sales of over 440 million units of Pokemon-related software, which is an increase of 60 million units when compared to last year’s figures. We know that of these figures, at least 12.64 million copies of Pokemon Legends: Arceus were sold, as well as 14.65 million copies of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl. With the worldwide release of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet scheduled for November 18 this year, it’s likely that these numbers will only continue to grow.

They also reported over 43.2 billion cards have been produced, an increase of just over 9 billion from the previous year.

This report follows their recent financial earnings reports for the previous year, which show that all of its numbers essentially doubled on the previous year.
