Phoenix Wright Nendoroid

This past summer, new Nendoroids were revealed for Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth, with both characters originating from Ace Attorney. Good Smile has now followed up with information.

Both figures are now confirmed for a August 2022 release. Additionally, some new details and photos have been shared.

According to Nintendo’s Corporate Governance Report, the company is making a stronger push for diversity within its workforce.

One section of the document mentions that “recruiting women and creating an environment in which women can build successful careers.” It noted that Nintendo will “increase the proportion of women in managerial positions”.

The Corporate Governance Report also notes how the company is “committed to respecting the personality and strengths of each and every employee, including employees from our overseas subsidiaries, and developing an environment where employees of diverse backgrounds can maximize their potential.”

Masao Shirosaki, the director of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, has expressed interest in making a new game in the series.

SEGA has started to do more with the franchise in recent years. It started in 2019 with a remaster of the Wii game Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, with an HD version releasing on Switch in 2019. We then just saw Banana Mania, which was based on Super Monkey Ball, Super Monkey Ball 2 and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe.

Chris Pratt Mario

Chris Meledandri, the co-producer of the upcoming Super Mario movie and boss of Illumination, has commented on the decision to cast Chris Pratt.

Some were surprised by the casting choices when the news was shared in September. Pratt landed the leading role as Mario himself. According to Meledandri, the actor’s voice in the film is “phenomenal”.

Nintendo Activision Blizzard

Last week, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser issued an internal email to all levels of the company – including development partners such as Retro Studios and Next Level Games – regarding reports and controversies that have emerged pertaining to Activision Blizzard.

A lot has been coming through over the past few months regarding Activision Blizzard’s poor handling of its employees, particularly when it comes to sexual misconduct in the workplace. It all cumulated last week following a report from The Wall Street Journal. In its article, the publication wrote about Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, who was aware of sexual harassment and misconduct that had been taking place within the company, intervened to protect abusers, and apparently even dished out his own abuse.

Nintendo has just revealed new physical rewards for My Nintendo members living in the United Kingdom: two Pokemon themed smartphone rings to celebrate the arrival of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl this week.

Redeemable for 500 points each, the smartphone rings feature either Piplup or the Team Galactic emblem to attach to your smartphone. The rings are made from acrylic and zinc, and each have a limit of 1 per customer. As with all physical rewards from My Nintendo, in addition to the points themselves, you will need to pay a shipping fee.

Playtonic Tencent

Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic has announced that it has sold a minority stake to leading technology company Tencent.

Playtonic says it “will retain full creative control over its IP and will use the investment to scale from their current one team structure to multiple teams, with an emphasis on hiring diverse talent from near and afar, improving their HQ, as well as looking to expand in new locations.”

Speaking about bringing Tencent into the fold, Playtonic founder Gavin Price explained:

Roll7 Private Division

Today, Take-Two publishing label Private Division announced that it has acquired developer Roll7.

The two sides are currently working together on OlliOlli World, which is planned for this winter. Roll7 also made the previous two entries in the series – OlliOlli and OlliOlli2 – which are available on Switch.
