Ubisoft avoided pirate clichés with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag features a pirate setting, but that doesn’t mean it’ll fall to the kind of clichés you’d expect from such a game. Ubisoft looked to create a fairly authentic experience, so you won’t be seeing things like talking parrots. You won’t be walking the plank either.
Game director Ashraf Ismail told DigitalSpy that the team was keen to avoid pirate clichés during the development of Black Flag.
He said:
“We don’t have talking parrots, we don’t have walking the plank – walking the planks didn’t even exist at that time. We did take a few liberties from a gaming perspective. We have treasure maps, for example, which pirates didn’t have, but this is more of a gameplay mechanic. Generally speaking we really avoided cliches. Even the way pirates spoke, it wasn’t as cliche as we imagine today. We have amazing voice acting in this game, and the actors did a phenomenal job.”

Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition, announced earlier today, will not be available on Wii U. NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon has confirmed that the re-release isn’t planned for the console.
A tweet from Boon reads:
RT @KyleJastrick @noobde No Wii U version of Ultimate? EB: No Wii-U version.
— Ed Boon (@noobde) October 7, 2013
RT @Omegaduelflame @noobde ..the original game came out on Wii u so this should too make it happen ed EB: Its not as simple as that.
— Ed Boon (@noobde) October 7, 2013
Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition is coming to almost every major platform – PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Xbox 360, and PC. It’s unfortunate to see Wii U being left out of the mix.

Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Podcast Stories, Wii | 4 Comments
Last week, news surfaced of Nintendo’s plans to end production of the Wii in Japan. It doesn’t sound like there are similar plans in the west.
Eurogamer was told by Nintendo that the message was specific to Japan. The company also said, “We have made no specific announcements for Europe regarding Wii production.” That’s the same situation in the states as well.
Nintendo’s statement in full reads:
“Yes, NCL did update their website on 29th August with a small notice to state that Wii hardware production will stop in the near future. This specific message was referring to the Japanese market. No specific time frame has been stated yet. We have made no specific announcements for Europe regarding Wii production.”
