Digital Foundry has returned with another game frame rate analysis. This time around, the outlet examines Pokken Tournament. The fighter is able to maintain 60 frames per second for the most part, though it does take a hit in resolution.

Digital Foundry notes that Pokken Tournament runs at 960×720, which is below 720p. This can impact backgrounds and what players see when characters are shown up close.

Take a look at the full analysis below.

According to a listing on Nintendo’s website, Lovely Planet is making its way to Wii U next week. This will be a Tuesday release in North America – April 5.

Here’s a description of the game:

With boots of speed on your feet, an infinite supply of bullets for your semi-automatic and the ability to jump over twice your own height, you’re well equipped to go up against any enemy on your quest to reach Lovely Planet! Balance between jumping around dodging bullets and taking aim for a better shot at your enemies, don’t waste time camping at cover spots and waiting for enemies to pop out – artfully evade the onslaught of bullets and defeat all baddies that stand in your way!

Lovely Planet will be priced at $9.99. But since it was included in the Nindies@Home program last year, those who downloaded the demo should be able to save 15 percent.

Thanks to MrValtor for the tip.

This month’s issue of RetroGamer has an interview with a number of former Rare employees. One section has some staffers reflecting on the studio’s relationship with Nintendo, which was a two-way street.

Chris Seavor told the magazine that Rare came up with jet skis in Wave Race 64 while Shigeru Miyamoto suggested ties in Donkey Kong Country:

“Bottom line, everybody won: Wave Race 64 was originally with boats until Tim suggested Jet Skis and in Donkey Kong Country he didn’t have a tie until Miyamoto added one.”

Another ex-Rare staffer, Chris Sutherland, also noted that Miyamoto’s input was crucial when it came to another element of Donkey Kong Country:

“The ground slap that Donkey Kong performed in the DKC series originated as a suggestion from Miyamoto.”

Earlier this month it was announced that Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice would release September 27 in North America. Up until now European fans have been in the dark about when they would receive this newest offering from everyone’s favourite hedgehog.

Today Nintendo announced that the release date for Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice in Europe is September 30.

In an interview with 4Gamer, some of the cast and crew of the upcoming Phoenix Wright anime gave more details on the upcoming show. Director Ayumi Watanabe and main game developer Shu Takumi teased that there will be a section of the show that shows Phoenix’s past, based on lines dropped in the first game.

Some other notes from the interview (translated courtesy of Court-Records member Ash):

-Yuki Kaji (Phoenix’s voice actor) was a fan of the games before landing the part
-Both Kaji and Aoi Yuki (Maya’s voice actress) were eager to say the iconic “Objection!”
-This is the first regular role for Masashi Tamaki (Miles Edgeworth’s voice actor)
-Tamaki first tried to do a realistic voice for Edgeworth, but was told to make it more pretention
-Director Watanabe thought the games had already been made into an anime before joining the project
-Developer Shu Takumi sees the series as a “destiny”, since the original game was set in 2016
-Takumi was originally going to leave the series in the hands of the animation team, but was convinced to take a more active role
-Anime will contain many direct references to the games, including using the music
