Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters out on September 29 in North America
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 17 Comments
September is looking like a busy month for 3DS. Monster Hunter Stories, Metroid: Samus Returns, and Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters are arriving within just a few weeks of each other.
Previously, Nintendo had given Psychic Specters a vague “Fall 2017” launch window in North America. We now have a final date, as it’s now confirmed for September 29.
Yo-kai Watch 2 originally came out last year. Psychic Specters offers new features, including new Yo-kai to befriend, exclusive quests, and the ability to hop on the Hexpress to a new resort area. Those who purchased Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits or Fleshy Souls can transfer their save data to pick up where they left off.

Nintendo launching New Super Mario Bros. 2 2DS bundle in North America on August 25
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 3 Comments
The New 2DS XL is the hot new thing for Nintendo in the 3DS line right now, but the company hasn’t forgotten about the original 2DS. Next month, the big N will be shipping out a new bundle.
Consumers will soon be able to pick up a white-and-red 2DS system with New Super Mario Bros. 2. The game will come pre-installed. It’s slated for August 25 at a $79.99 price point.
Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said in a statement:
“Nintendo 2DS is the ideal system for parents that want to introduce their kids to the creative world of Nintendo that they grew up with. Its budget-friendly price and huge library of games will provide hours of entertainment for the whole family – whether after school, on the weekends or even while traveling.”

Layton’s Mystery Journey sold through 75% of its initial shipment in Japan
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 6 Comments
Splatoon 2 wasn’t the only notable game to have released in Japan last week. Layton’s Mystery Journey also saw its debut. Dengeki reports that the game sold through 75 percent of its initial shipment.
That’s not too shabby of a number, and we also have to remember that the game was distributed on mobile. Dengeki does point out though that first week sales were less than Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy’s debut of 128,000 at launch. It went on to sell 283,000 copies on the whole.

[Review] Hey! Pikmin
Posted on 8 years ago by Philip(@P_Trah) in 3DS, Reviews | 9 Comments
System: 3DS
 Release date: July 28, 2017
 Developer:: Arzest
 Publisher: Nintendo
Genre-altering spinoffs are not an entirely new concept in the gaming world, especially when it comes to Nintendo. Sometimes taking an existing IP and changing its genre and play style can breathe new life into a series; other times (more often than not it seems) it can work against the franchise and can leave fans of a certain series wanting a bit more than what was presented. In Hey! Pikmin for the 3DS, we see Nintendo and developer Arzest try and introduce those adorable sentient carrots and our intrepid, inter-galactic delivery man to Nintendo’s handheld. While Hey! Pikmin has plenty of the same charm that the mainline console Pikmin titles have, it lacks the depth and strategy that fans have come to admire the series for.

A look at the launch of Dragon Quest XI in Japan
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Images | 6 Comments
The launch of Dragon Quest games is always a big deal in Japan. It’s an extremely popular series, and each new entry is treated as a huge event.
It’s been a five year wait for the next Dragon Quest title. The wait has been even longer for a new single-player focused game. And so Japan no doubt treated the release of Dragon Quest XI as an important event. You can see a few photos from the launch below.
