Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Original (1/3): This week’s UK software sales are in, and it includes significant information about Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The game, which saw a 7 percent sales increase week-on-week, was the second best-selling game of 2020 in terms of boxed releases – only FIFA 21 did better. However, if we’re looking at single platform sales as opposed to grouping all systems together, Animal Crossing is well ahead of FIFA 21 on PlayStation 4.

Boxed sales of Switch games dipped only 25 percent week-on-week. That’s in contrast to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which fell 48 percent and 53 percent respectively.

Saviors of Sapphire Wings/Stranger of Sword City Revisited

Saviors of Sapphire Wings/Stranger of Sword City Revisited is due out for Switch in North America on March 16 and Europe on March 19.

Fire Emblem Heroes has refreshed its content, this time bringing new Axe art quests, starting Pawns of Loki again, and putting Mjölnir’s Strike in Brace phase.

Axe arts quests are special battles that can be completed with axe wielding heroes for orbs. There are twelve new quests to try out now.

Pawns of Loki has also started back up, and the bonus weapons are unrestricted in this iteration. Players can use any heroes they like to try to challenge Loki.

Finally, Mjölnir’s Strike is in Brace phase until January 5, 2021 at 11:00pm PT. 

 

The next legendary event has started in Pokemon Masters EX, and this one is a repeat of the Pure Hearts and Rainbow Wings. This is the forth legendary event, and it features the sync pair Silver and Ho-Oh in special missions. Also, Silver and Ho-Oh can now be trained to level 130.

The Pure Hearts and Rainbow Wings legendary event is live until February 7, 2021 at 9:59pm PT.  

 

Writhe

Writhe, an arcade-style first-person shooter, will be hitting the Switch eShop later this month. Find some early footage in the video below.

Writhe is due out for Switch via the eShop on January 15. Learn more about the title here.

A major discovery has come to light regarding the manner in which NPCs were created in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It turns out that they have a major connection to Miis.

Twitter user HEYimHeroic learned that NPCs in the game use an advanced version of the Mii format, known in the files as “UMii”. UMiis are similar to Miis from Wii U and 3DS with most of the same parameters. There are some differences like moles no longer being supported.

A number of new deals are up and running on the North American Switch eShop. These include Blair Witch, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Crysis Remastered, Rogue Trooper Redux, the Sniper Elite games, and more.

Shantae: Risky's Revenge

DSiWare was one of Nintendo’s earliest attempts at having downloadable games on its platforms. The DSi Shop closed off new purchases in 2017, though its legacy continued on 3DS. However, while 3DS owners have long had the ability to nab DSiWare releases through the eShop, it seems that a whole bunch of games can no longer be purchased.

Reports suggest that all DSiWare titles released before mid-May 2011 have been deactivated on the 3DS eShop. Some of the included games are as follows:

Rune Fencer Illyia

Nootbox Games is currently developing Rune Fencer Illyia, “an intense, atmospheric action-platformer with a heavy focus on exploration and combat.” The project is targeting a 2021 launch on Switch.
